SHIPPING YOUR PHOTOS

Be sure to use a brand new, sturdy shipping box for shipping. Please do not reuse a previously used box. The more it is used, the less structural integrity the box has and can cause the box to burst open or be crushed during transit.

You can get mailing boxes from your local shipping store or free from the post office if you are shipping via USPS.

IMPORTANT: Mail order only, walk-in service unavailable for redemption

Include the necessary paperwork:

IMPORTANT NOTE: You, as the customer, are responsible for knowing how many photos are being sent to ScanMyPhotos. We do not precount your photos and the only way for us to know how many photos you have sent is to scan them. If we scan them, you agree to pay any overage charges beyond your Groupon voucher.

Fill the empty space of the box with newspaper or similar packing material. DO NOT use packing popcorn.

Use shipping strength tape. DO NOT use masking tape or scotch tape which is not intended for shipping.

Ship your photos to ScanMyPhotos using your favorite courier service. We recommend either the USPS or FedEx but everyone has their own favorite.

For added security, we recommend adding tracking or insurance to your package for a little extra ease of mind.

IMPORTANT NOTICES BEFORE YOU START ORGANIZING

This service is for photos only. Please do not include any slides, negatives, newspaper clippings or documents with your photo scanning order. Any material that does not meet the requirements will be returned to you unscanned.

Remove all Post-It notes, paper clips and staples. Any Post-It note left on the front of the photo will be scanned as-is and any Post-It notes on the back of photos may prevent it from being scanned. Also remove all photos from envelopes, baggies, albums and cardboard frames.

DO NOT ship any copyright protected material such as school photos, professional portraits, professionally shot wedding photos, etc. We cannot legally scan these and will be returned unscanned.

Unable to scan severely curled photos. Photos with a slight curl may have a haze or be scanned out of focus due to their inability to lie flat on the scanning glass. Often times this presents itself as a purple haze over part of the image. If the photo is substantially curled it will not be scanned.

ORGANIZING YOUR PHOTOS

This offer is valid only for 4x'6" size photos to be scanned. Group your photos into bundles of about 100-150 photos per bundle and secure with a rubber band.

TIP: 100 photos in a bundle is about one inch thick. ScanMyPhotos is not responsible for overages based on this tip. The only way to know how many photos you have for sure is to count them.

Photos must be square or rectangular in shape (slight rounded corners are OK). We cannot scan odd shaped photos.

If you have selected the additional option of "Sizes Other than 4x6", we will accept photos ranging from 3"x3" up to 8"x10" and must be organized by size.

ALL photos MUST be organized by size unless both "Sizes Other than 4x6" and "Scan in Order" are selected in which case you can submit photos of other sizes intermixed with each other.

This is an additional option at an additional fee not included with the Groupon.

See Scan in Order explained in the next panel for more information.

Scan In Order: If you use ANY index cards, dividers or want pictures NOT to be randomly digitized, you must choose the "scanning in order" upgrade. Otherwise, your pictures (even if there are index cards included) are randomly scanned and not in any order.

If you mix sizes together instead of being organized by size, you must order "Scan in Order".

While our scanning process is fast and efficient, one drawback is all photos must be scanned horizontally, even if the original orientation is vertical. You can have us rotate them after they are scanned for an additional fee or you can do this yourself on your own computer after you get the DVD back.

Simply copy the images to your hard drive and rotate via Windows or your favorite photo editing software.

If selected, this is an additional option at an additional fee not included with the Groupon.

Be sure to place all your photos face up and right-side up. Any photo sent face down will have the back of the photo scanned instead of the front. Photos sent upside-down will be scanned upside down.

Fan through your photos to remove any loose dirt and dust. This will also help you ensure that all the photos can easily bend and help you find any photo that is too thick to be scanned. Photos must be able to bend with little to no effort.

NOTE: While we can scan most Polaroid photos, there are some instances where we cannot. Some of the older Polaroid photos were mounted on cardboard, others have an extra chemical pack in the back of the photo. These are too thick, will jam in our scanner and, as such, cannot be scanned.

OTHER NOTES:

Photos with sticky material will stick together during the scanning process thus resulting in photos scanned on top of each other.

Curled photos may have a haze or be scanned out of focus due to their inability to lie flat on the scanning glass. Often times this presents itself as a purple haze over part of the image.
