FOUNDER HOLLY PINTO’S STORY

Warm Greetings!

Oh my…..where do I begin? Mental illness brought me to the field of massage therapy. I had severe anxiety and a lot of unprocessed trauma from the illness and death of my mother. When you grow up in a loving but very authoritative military household (my dad was a bomber pilot and served in the military for 34 years) and you were too young to process illness it was bound to catch up with me, and it did. In addition, leaving friends every four years is extremely hard when the floor beneath you is not stable.

So, after a few major “breakthroughs” and much therapy and meditation, I found my way to massage school and have been a massage therapist since 1989. The best decision I have ever made and the most blessed profession in the world!  Massage school taught me that we are not “healers”. We can’t heal anyone with the exception of our own self. We are facilitators helping our clients’ own bodies to heal. Our bodies have their own intelligence for healing if given the proper environment. That is stillness.

After opening and closing many beautiful practices ( married military too! Divorced in 2002 ) I opened The Body Therapy Center and School of Massage in 1997. What a dream come true. I have two beautiful daughters and three amazing grandchildren.

My specialties include Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (earned my full teachership in 2004), Myofascial Release (co-authored a book with my friend and mentor Dr. Michael Shea) and aquatic bodywork Watsu and Waterdance under the direction of Minakshi and Harold Dull. I feel extremely blessed that I can get up each day and do what I do.

Today I am 64 years old. My passion is teaching and I will continue as long as I can. I just graduated from a two -year training with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield with a certification to teach meditation. I plan to expand Holly’s Heart Meditation Community (join our group on Facebook) by offering more meditations and begin offering one- and three-day silent retreats.

I am madly in love with our little school house. I love the shared experiences that happen at my little school house. I have the most loyal staff in the world. Where would I be without Tammy Bivin and Dr. Dan Rovin. We are going on 26 years in business!!!

So many people to thank. So many precious memories. So many precious moments.  I love you all.

Visit my blog on this website. I will write monthly. I would love to hear from you. too. How can we help?
