This company is unresponsive and not interested in helping their customers. I have a gift card that I have been unable to use for six months. I have reached out to the team several times and they have been completely unresponsive.

The user experience on their website is awful and something is most likely broken, causing the issue with the gift card, but without any help I assume they're happy to take the cash for the gift card without providing the service.

Meal delivery a crowded space with lots of options, even just in Burlingame, so I would encourage you to go elsewhere for a better customer experience.

I never thought it would come to this, but in an effort to avoid eating out 6 nights a week I decided to try Sous Kitchen. They deliver to my work, with free delivery and meal assembly for orders over $50. Like the other reviewers, I've been extremely impressed by the quality and value of the meals. Everything I've tried so far has been fresh, healthy, and very tasty.

The small entrees are enough for 2 people, plus at least one leftover serving, which is great for a quick lunch or dinner on another day.

Sous Kitchen is saving me time & money, and I'm eating healthier too. Love it!

I have to say, I am super impressed- all around- with Sous Kitchen.

I order sous kitchen via work, so i do not go in and prepare the meals myself. I order them, they deliver ready to assemble and cook basically. I have ordered a few times, and lots of different types of dishes (seafood and vegetarian, assemble and heat and serve) and all have been very clever and quality once cooked.

I love the fact that i still get to put it together and cook it. I love it. I've ordered meal delivery services where they just deliver it and you heat it up and it left me longing for more.

      what makes this work:
Serving Sizes: you can order in 2-3 or 3-4 serving portions. The price for the 2-3 servings is incredibly cost effective ($5 a serving about). I've paid 3x that for individual meals prepared by other meal delivery services

VARIETY: they have a large variety of meat, seafood, veggie and side dishes. They are a mixture of familar flavors, and flavors that sound amazing, but that you'd never think to put together on your own.

VALUE: the cost of ingredients to cook anything these days will always, ALWAYS exceed $20. For $20 you get 2-3 servings of a delicious, clever meal. Plus you save the time of shopping, the hassle of shopping, and the dissapointment of throwing away unused portions of ingredients you couldn't get around to using.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT: i have had the pleasure of working with them on a few occassions (one due to my mixup on how it worked and once to change an order). I have never, in my recent memories left a support experience feeling so well taken care of. They're on top of their game, they truly care about your satisfaction and are very very quick to respond.

Since I have started ordering from Sous Kitchen, I eat better, and order out less. Why order out or fix junk when something delicious is waiting for you in your freezer?

I love this company, really I do. I will order meals from them monthly so that I can have something delicious in my freezer. just knowing I have one of their meals as back up makes my heart smile.

Keep up the amazing work Sous Kitchen. Thank you for filling that void a lot of the professionals in the world today face. The love of cooking, without all time to shop and prep.

      I heart you!

My job offer Sous Kitchen as one of the "Corporate Perks" but while every company might get a different "perk" it seems that what they offer our business is simply the privilege of onsite delivery. It didn't seem to me that we received free shipping or even a discount on the foods. Big minus! (Kudos to the company where I work for having this available though.)

Next, because I decided to jump on this wagon the first week of employment, I had to order by phone, but given the number of questions I had, I decided to be kind to them and write an email first. A day and a half later, I still hadn't heard back, so I called them. Minus!

The woman who answered the phone was extremely helpful and had the patience of a saint. I don't exaggerate when I suggest I must have had about 10 questions. I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. She answered them all and not with simply "yes" or "no" but she elaborated when necessary. She even told me about a discount code that was available and about specials. Big plus!

I was a little disappointed that though everything was frozen, that there wasn't any dry ice like I was told there is when delivered to a business or presumably a home. So on one of the hottest days of the year, during commute traffic, I was a little concerned. (It turned out fine.)

The best part though is that after cooking two meals I've become a fan. I was SUPER impressed by how they packaged everything and made the instructions very clear. Their portions are as stated; I purchased the "Medium" which they say feeds 3-4, and I was in fact able to get three very healthy portions. I could have gotten a fourth had I made a simply salad or had garlic bread with the pasta dish. The chocolate chip cookies were also very tasty. HUGE plus!
On that note though one minus is that the menu has a lot of rice and pasta. The bowtie pasta dish was a little heavy on the pasta and light on the vegetables.

I ordered all of the vegetarian choices for the month, two sides, scones AND chocolate chip cookies. The delivery charge was omitted since I picked up. Keep in mind that each of the meal (6 different entrees) will yield me 3 meals easily. I'm convinced that for what I paid, and knowing myself well enough to know how much produce I discard because I never get around to cooking it in time, ~$165 is reasonable. I feel like with the one meal, I've already saved about $25 between one dinner out and one lunch at work.

You still have to cook, and you have to think ahead so that you can take the meal out of the freezer the night before. Maybe not as critical for vegetarian dishes as for meat dishes. But, you don't have to grocery shop nearly as much or as long. You don't have to think about what you're going to cook, necessarily, you don't have to chop and dice and you get to try different foods. One of the dishes I ordered is a Korean style dish - I've never had Korean food and the thought of buying a bunch of unfamiliar spices to try my hand at one dish isn't appealing to me.

Finally, the other thing I mentioned which may only be the case for the vegetarian dishes is that from July to August, the menu didn't change and in September, they only added a couple or maybe three new dishes all others were the same. Too, it seems that all of the "specials" they have are centered around meat.

In conclusion, I totally recommend you give them a try. At a minimum, since the food can last a little while in the freezer, it's a great way to have back-up dishes for the nights you don't have what you need or enough time to do it all yourself.

What a great idea! You sign up for meals you want to make and then all the ingredients are ready for you when you arrive. You go to the station for that meal, follow an easy recipe, bag it, and slap on the sticker with the cooking instructions. We made two meals last night (maple glazed salmon and jambalaya) all within about 15 minutes.

Also, they aren't allowed to serve alcohol at sous kitchen, but you can bring in your own wine and they'll happily provide the glasses!

I think the cost is totally reasonable (about $32 for 4-6 servings). For some recipes, by the time you end up buying everything you need....it would've been cheaper (and much easier) just to make it at sous kitchen. We don't have kids yet, but I could see this being a life saver if you have a family that you cook for every night. They also have a service where they can prep it for you and you just pick it up--packaged and ready to cook. Or if you need even more convenience... They also deliver!

The place is spotless, really well organized and the customer service is great. They really give you the royal treatment.

      I absolutely loved it!!

Maybe I am just so relieved to be treated well at a place that I used a Groupon that I am overly enthusiastic.

      Naw. They deserve 5 stars.

The staff have been incredibly nice and accommodating starting with their offer to let me pick up the food (saving the delivery charge) despite the Groupon fine print that said the deal was delivery only. Then when I couldn't navigate their site because of how the Groupon was applied, the man on the phone was both helpful and polite. Twice. Plus, they called back when they said the would and were quick and responsive when I called and showed up for the pick up.

      Oh. The food!

I waited to post this review until I tried a dish. The chicken enchiladas were extremely tasty. Five stars on their own. Plentiful, well-seasoned, excellent quality ingredients.

The service is a very credible, eat-in alternative to cooking from scratch.

      First to Review

Since I am due soon, my friend suggested that I look into one of these services. This summer Sous Kitchen has a deal where they waive the $5 assembly fee for each To Go order (this is where you don't have to go to prepare the food yourself, you just pick up food that they've already cut up and frozen). I bought 6 different meals and had them split each one in half - a split meal is about $15 and supposedly feeds 2-3 people.

Overall, I think it is fantastic. I've loved not having to think "what should I make for dinner tonight?" and going to the store and buying the food then chopping it up and then cleaning up. They have been incredibly easy to prepare. I also love that they are pretty healthy.

One thing I didn't realize is that these are not whole meals... you still have to prepare sides, because alone they don't feed 2-3 people. In fact, even with sides, they really only feed 2 people and even then it is just enough to satisfy you - this is not a bad thing, considering how overly huge restaurant portions are these days. I liked that it was a perfect portion to satisfy us without stuffing us silly.

We first tried the Chili Lime Steak with Mexican Rice, which I overcooked. It had a good flavor but was too spicy for my husband and my son. I stir-fried some broccoli as a side. The rice was a bit dry.

Next was the Satay Chicken Stir Fry. Being Chinese, I liked this meal the least. It's exactly that: stir fry - the white people version of Asian food. It was chicken, snow peas, sliced carrots, and broccoli stir fried with a peanuty sauce. The jasmine rice that came with the meal wasn't the best quality. After this I decided not to get any more Asian meals from them. I didn't make a side for this since it seemed like it should be a complete meal, but it wasn't enough food at all.

After that, we had the Baked Ziti - basically pasta with a meat sauce baked with cheese on top. This was very good; the flavoring was perfect. I also baked some Pillsbury croissants as a side.

Tonight, we had Paella Valenciana. Also excellent. This was the only meal where we felt stuffed afterwards cuz it was actually quite a bit of food, and I didn't make any side dishes either.

We have two more meals to go and I have to say it's been a success so far. In fact, I just ordered 9 more meals from their September menu (to take advantage of the free assembly deal).

I am posting this review in October and have been using Sous Kitchen since June. To compare, during this time, I also sampled another fresh delivered box option and Sous Kitchen fit the bill much better for what I was looking for.

All the stress of picking out recipes and grocery shopping for the ingredients weekly is gone! All I need to do is point, click and purchase. The meals have always arrived with more than enough dry ice to last through the day and defrost easily when pulled from the freezer the night before, morning of (or even after work with a couple hours to defrost in a water bowl).

The other box option was interesting, but was a lot more work and in the end, we spent all that time prepping and cooking a meal that didn't fit our tastes. With Sous Kitchen, we get to select our meals based on our taste and so far, we haven't been disappointed.

The customer service has always been on point when I've called. Assertive and extremely helpful! The old website was a little clunky, but the new one provides an quick and easy to use experience.

Though, I am in love with this service, I would like to have more veggie options as a side. These are easy for me to grab at the store and prep along with the meal, so no deduction for that.

My wife bugged me to try Sous Kitchen for a long time. Some of her colleagues at work use them on a regular basis. I recently agreed to give it a shot, and can't believe that I didn't try this earlier.

I am the cook of the house, and Sous Kitchen has really simplified my meal plans for the week. We usually order 4-6 meals at a time. They deliver them to my wife's office, and we cook the meals over a two week period. I pride myself as a great chef, but my hat is off to Sous Kitchen. Their meals are very creative (what's in those spice packs), but simple to make. I have learned a few tricks already, and look forward to the next month's menu.

The portions are well priced, and not too over-the-top. We find that we get the right amount, and don't feel overly weighted down afterwards.

The sides are great, especially the garlicky green beans. The lemon bars can not be beat. We have not been disappointed by any of the meals. My wife has even enjoyed some things that she would never try before.

My only complaint? The menus rotate on a monthly basis and are somewhat limited. We would use them more often if the menu was bigger.

I look forward to trying the in-kitchen experience after reading some of the other reviews. Thanks to everyone for the tip.

Update: we have continued to order from Sous for several months. Their menus are always creative, although they can over-emphasize certain ingredients sometimes. In July it seemed like everything had Feta cheese on it. In spite of this, Sous continues to offer great value, convenience and variety for our family.

What surprised me about my sous kitchen meals is that they really are close to being ready to eat. It takes very little time to finish them at home and voila - a restaurant-tasty meal fast and inexpensive! I feared that I would get whole bunch of pouches with instructions and so forth. Given my schedule, multi-pan meals are a crazy indulgence that rarely happens. Sous Kitchen is a real treat!

Try it - you'll love it.
