We finally gave Sun Cafe a try after a few years of wanting to do so. There were four of us and in the end, none of us were impressed. None of us liked the miso soup. The spicy salmon rolls and tuna sashimi was alright. My Panang Chicken was okay. The General Tsoas was very sweet and had an odd after taste. The Pad Thai was average. Nothing was horrible, nor was it all that great.

Been coming here for years and have always been very happy with the food quality, prices, and quality of service. Favorite item on the menu is there 3 rolls for $11 lunch special. Spicy tuna rolls are my favorite.

I've tried many of their dinner entrees and they have all been good. Curry dishes are really good as well. I feel like this place gets forgot about a lot due to its location, but it is definitely underrated. They also have a great daily happy hour.

Service: It's extremely fast and friendly here. The restaurant is relatively small, so they can always see when you need something, which is really nice.

Food: It's pretty standard food you would find at a Chinese restaurant, but I like it better than most because it is less oily. I usually get sushi here, the Valentine roll is pretty good if you don't like your sushi fried. I used to like getting the eggplant here, but they don't have it anymore. My brother likes the Mongolian beef, which is good but there's more onion than beef. They have two menus, one that you see in the standard cover, but another that is a simple laminated paper that has more Chinese dishes on it. I suggest ordering off that menu because it is more authentic. I like the shredded pork off that menu (but it's a bit too sweet).

Overall, this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Huntsville area!

We were polite to our server from the time we sat down until the time we left. Our server Corrie,Corey,Corry(not sure of the spelling) she is very attentive to other people seated. We waited patiently for her while she smiled and took care of others.

Could it be that because we live in Atlanta Georgia where we are used to tipping 15% for a good meal and good service.

Visited Sun Cafe last night. We thought it was decent, but I'm not sure we liked it enough to go back.

First impressions - it's a dark and cozy interior, relatively clean looking except for the fish tank, which was filthy. Good for the customer that it's clean, but it makes me sad for the fish, though.

Our service was...adequate. Didn't stand out as especially good or bad. Prompt with refills but not especially friendly, in my opinion. The dishes came out sporadically - appetizers with entrees. I would have preferred to have them before that, as one usually does with appetizers.

Food wise, the egg drop soup was the stand out, and that's not necessarily an insult to the rest of the food. It was just exceptional soup. Eggs weren't viscous, and the broth was the perfect amount of salty. The sweet and sour soup was described by my boyfriend as "good." Nothing else was added, though, so who knows how good.

For appetizers, we had gyoza and the teriyaki chicken skewers. The gyoza was good - nice and crispy on one side and silky and chewy on the other, with a good balance of flavors. The chicken skewers were the worst thing we got all night - dry, dry, dry and over cooked. Interesting cinnamon flavor did little to help. I will say, though, that appetizers are very reasonably priced there.

For entrees, I had broccoli and chicken in brown sauce, and he had General Tso's. His was pretty good but didn't stand out to him. Mine was...eh. I thought the broccoli was still too crunchy, and the chicken had an odd texture and was unpleasantly chewy. The sauce had a nice flavor, though.

Overall, it might be worth it to go back and try again, but I'm not sure that we will.

The food declined over the past few months, and then this place finally closed permanently. It was to be expected, but it was still sad considering Sun Cafe used to be such a good place to eat. The staff just stopped caring about their food.

Doing good work here; a regular lunch spot.

To be clear, I stay on the sushi (and appetizer) side of the menu. The hot entrées are more hit and miss but the sushi is quite good.

The sunomono, beef or chicken skewers, or Sun Sampler (which includes skewers) are great starters among others. The rolls are well made and tasty. I won't recommend any because it depends on your preferences, but I've had a number of them. The nigiri isn't always my favorite here, sometimes too cold (occasional ice crystals), so I save that for other places. Good value, too.

I used the Yelp Eat24 app to order from Sun Cafe at lunch. Probably one of the easiest ordering forms I have ever went through. I am very glad Sun Cafe utilizes this. I cannot comment on the service, but the food is a strong 4/5.

I ordered the Lunch Special: any three rolls for $11.00. My choices were the sweet potato tempura, crunchy shrimp, and California roll. The sushi rolls themselves were six pieces of each roll, and touch 3/4 on an inch thick. The eel sauce, and the spicy mayo sauce is a great addition on these rolls and you can order side cups of each for 50 cents each. They use little rice, and lots of filling, which is delicious. I really enjoy the sweet potatoes roll, granted it's not a traditional sushi roll, but it's something different and kinda reminds me of a dessert of such. The crunchy shrimp is only shrimp and Panko, no avocado or cucumber or cream cheese, I supposed you can add these if you wish for an additional charge. The California is typical and pretty good. The lunch special comes with a choice of miso soup or green salad, however I substituted for egg drop.

Overall the food is delicious, and the ease of ordering for lunch saves me on lunch time. I will definitely be back!

I use to go here many years ago for lunch and didn't remember much about it. Decided on a whim to order it via waitr delivery so I can't review inside or staff - but the food was EXCELLENT. Best Asian food I've had in a while. Our family tried coconut chicken (wish they had tofu! Maybe available if order at the restaurant), genera tso chicken, shrimp tempura roll, Singapore noodles, fried rice and egg drop soup. It really was all great. Fresh, good cuts of meat, good ratio of sauces, very happy to re-find them.

Pretty decent sushi. Not the best. Not the worst. The general tso chicken was very good and I liked that the chicken pieces were in strips instead of chunks. It made it a lot easier to eat. Perfect amount of spice. Good portion size for the bento box. I would come here again just for the gyoza. Hands down the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The stuffing was super tasty and plentiful. Service was sort of slow but that was expected since there was only one guy running the host stand, taking phone orders, and waiting all the tables in the restaurant. He did very well, considering. This was a good place for a Sunday lunch.
