Julian Krinsky School of Tennis at Gulph Mills

The Great Base Initiative

Since 1978, we've been helping players of all ages and levels make dramatic improvements in their games by enhancing fundamentals, focusing on court strategy and creating a competitive and supportive environment. Julian Krinsky, who played on the international tennis circuit, founded JKST. Today, the year-round academy offers two indoor facilities, as well as one of the world's premier summer camps. We are a USTA Middle States Premier Provider and the Gulph Mills Club was named the USTA Philadelphia District Commercial Organization of the Year.  The Gulph Mills JKST Tennis Club was selected as one of the nation’s Premier Facilities by the United States Tennis Association for 2022-2024.  This prestigious designation was given to 50 tennis organizations in the country was based on meeting and/or exceeding USTA standards of excellence in coaching, programming, facility, and customer service.  We’re very proud that our club was selected to help the USTA in this new endeavor and ultimately support improvements within the tennis industry.

The Great Base Initiative is the teaching philosophy of the Julian Krinsky School of Tennis. It is a teaching system founded by Steve Smith following the philosophies of tennis teaching master, Vic Braden. The Great Base Initiative teaches players to develop a very strong fundamental base through fact-based instruction. In order to play tennis at a high level, a player needs to start with a great base including instruction, work ethic and character. As part of this initiative, we are committed to our 10 and Under Tennis program. In fact, every one of our courts has blended lines to accommodate the program
