We offer games for all levels of shooters.

Beginner and Intermediate Games

Beginner and intermediate games are offered on a request basis. They are usually held on the same traps as the practice shooters and can be set up as requested. There are not prizes or payouts as these games are for fun. No advanced shooters are allowed in these games to discourage beginners.

Advanced Games

This draft of the rules for our fun and games is to provide everyone with an understanding of the rules for each game. A standing rule that it always takes two different people to call a dead bird or a chip on a Do-Da. Any questions or requested revisions can be brought to the attention of a board member. New or overlooked games can be added at any time.

Fun and Game Rules

  1. Backers

  1. Backers are usually shot from the 27 yd. line but may be shot from any yardage.

  2. The first person on each team will shoot in rotation and then the second person on each team will shoot in rotation.

  3. Each team member will shoot his/her own target once from each station except when the event is more than ten targets per team.  If the event is more than ten birds, the number of targets each team member will shoot will be adjusted accordingly.

  4. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses the target, his/her partner may shoot at it. If his/her partner breaks the target, it is a dead target.

  5. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses the target and his/her partner misses also, it is a lost target.

  6. If the shooter whose turn it is breaks the target and his/her partner shoots, it is a lost target.

  7. If the shooter whose turn it is gun fails to fire and his/her partner shoots, the results of the shot will be scored.

  8. If the shooter whose turn it is gun fails to fire and his/her partner does not shoot, the target will be shot over.

  9. If the wrong person calls for the target and the target is shot at by either team member, it is a lost target.

  10. If the wrong shooter calls for the target but the target is not shot at, the target will be shot over.

  11. If the shooter whose turn it is misses the target and his/her partner fails to shoot for any reason, it is a lost target.

  12. In backers with three or more shooters per team, if the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses the target, the next team member whose turn it is to shoot gun does not fire for any reason and if the following shooters on that team shoots in order, the results of the shot will be scored.

  13. One person teams are permissible but will pay the team entry fee.

  1. Do-Da Backer

  1. Do-Da backers are usually shot from the 22 to 24 yard line but may be shot from any yardage.

  2. The first person on each team will shoot in rotation and then the second person on each team will shoot in rotation.

  3. Each team member will shoot their own target once from each station except when the event is more than ten targets per team. If the event is more than ten birds, the number of targets each team member will shoot will be adjusted accordingly.

  4. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot breaks the target, their partner can shoot at any piece.

  5. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses the target, their partner can shoot at the target.

  6. There is a maximum of 20 pts. for a ten target event.

  7. Scoring shall be:

  1. Shooter breaks target, partner breaks a piece.   2 pts.

  2. Shooter misses target, partner breaks the target.              1 pt.

  3. Shooter breaks target, partner misses a piece.   1 pt.

  4. Both shooter and partner miss the target.           0 pts.

  1. If the shooter whose turn to shoot gun fails to fire and his/her partner shoots, the results of the shot will be scored.

  2. If the shooter whose turn to shoot gun fails to fire and his/her partner does not shoot, the target will be shot over.

  3. If the wrong person calls for the target and the target is shot at by either person, it is a lost target.

  4. If the wrong person calls for the target but the target is not shot at, the target will be shot over.

  5. There will be no pull-bangs.

  6. One person teams are permissible but will pay the team entry fee.

  7. The shooting team can call their own targets but someone else must also call that hit target.

  8. Two people (one can be the shooting team) must call a hit or piece on a Do-Da.

  1. Miss and Out

  1. Each shooter will shoot in rotation at the same number of targets.

  2. If a shooter misses a target, he/she is out unless there is a buyback in that event.

  3. The maximum number of pay-outs will be determined at the start of the event.

  4. If there are more shooters left after a round than the number of pre-determined pays, another round will be shot.

  5. The rounds will continue until the number of shooters left is equal to or less than the number of pre-determined pay-outs.

  6. At the completion of a round, if the number of shooters left is less than the number of pay-outs, they will split the total pay-out.

  7. If all shooters in the final round miss, the final round will be shot over.

  1. Regular Annies

  1. The shooters line up on the selected yardage. The first shooter is the shooter closest to the no. 1 post. The second, third, and subsequent shooters shoot in rotation continuing to the right. When the last shooter in line has shot, the rotation starts over with the shooter at the starting end of the line.

  2. The yardage to be shot at can be changed by the shooter whose turn it is to shoot once the first round has been completed unless a single yardage has been specified prior to the start of the event.

  3. Annies are usually 3 or 4 person and may or may not have a buy-back. A buy-back is when a shooter is forced to move because a following shooter broke his target.

  4. There is usually one buy-back per event, but can be more or less if specified prior to the start of the event.

  5. For describing the shooting sequence, the shooter whose turn it is to call for the target will be the 1st shooter followed by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the direction of shooting rotation.

  6. The shooting sequence is as follows:

  1. If the 1st shooter breaks his/her target and none of the following shooters fire, the next shooter in rotation will call for the next target.

  2. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot breaks his/her target and any of the following shooters shoot, the shooters who fire at the broken target will move to the end of the line in the direction of shooting rotation. (buy-back)

  3. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses his/her target, the 2nd shooter can shoot. If he/she misses the 3rd shooter can shoot. If the target is not broken, the 2nd shooter will be the first shooter for the next target.

  4. If the shooter whose turn it is to shoot misses his target and the 2nd shooter breaks it, the first shooter moves to the end of the line.

  5. If the 1st and 2nd shooters miss the target and the 3rd shooter breaks it, both the 1st and 2nd shooters will move to the end of the line.

  6. If any shooter besides the 1st shooter shoots out of turn & a target is broken, he/she will move to the end of the line.

  7. If the first shooter misses the target and the 2nd and 3rd shooter fire simultaneously or so close together that it cannot be determined who broke the target, the 3rd shooter will move to the end of the line. If the target is not broken there will be no moves. The reasoning is that the first shooter will not be penalized because it cannot be determined who broke the target.  The 3rd shooter moves because he shot out of turn.

  8. The shooter to call for the next target will be the shooter next in rotation after the moves have been made.

  1. The event will end when the number of remaining shooters is equal to the number of pays determined at the beginning of the event. If more than one shooter is shot out on the last target and the number of remaining shooters is less than the number of pays, the shooters eliminated on the final target will split the payout for the empty payout positions.

  2.

  1. Toledo Annie

  1. A Toledo Annie is the same as a regular Annie with the following exceptions:

  1. The shooter who breaks the target if not the 1st shooter moves to the start of the line. The shooters who missed that target moves to the other end of the line.

  1. If the shooter who breaks the target other than the 1st shooter has previously bought back, he/she will not move.

    VI. Albany Annie

    1.    An Albany Annie is the same as the above Annies but with the following exceptions:

    A.    The target is shot at, in order, until either someone breaks it or target lands on the ground.

    B.    One time during the game a shooter can pass (not shoot/skip his or her turn) as long as the shooter directly to the shooters left didn’t just pass. Two adjacent shooters can not pass at the same time.

    VII. Montana Annie

  1. This is an all gun Toledo style annie.

  1. Once you have been shot out the first time (dirty) if you miss “your” target you’re out!

  2. If you have been shot out the first time, someone misses their target in front of you and you break that target you have “redeamed” yourself, you go back to the front of the line. You may do this as many times as you can.

  3. If the shooter has been shot out (dirty) misses his shot all the shooters to his right must shoot in order.  There are no passes in this annie.

    VIII.Oregon Annie

  1. This is also an all gun Toledo style annie.

  1. If you have been shot out the first time, someone misses their target in front of you & you break that target you have “redeemed” yourself, you go back to the front of the line.  You may do this as many times as you can.

  2. If the shooter has been shot out (dirty) misses his target all the shooters to his right must shoot in order.  This is even if that shot ended the game, when the shooters to his right shoot and break the target they are moved back to the front of the line and get their “buy-back” back.

  3. As in an “Albany Annie” you can pass/skip your turn anytime except when the shooter to your left passes.  You can’t have two shooters pass at the same time.

    IX. Custer

  1. The rules for a Custer are the same as those for an Annie except for the following:

  1. When the shooter calling for the target misses, the shooters in the direction of rotation can shoot in turn until the target is broken or it hits the ground. The target must be broken before it hits the ground.

  2. The next shooter to call for the target will be the one adjacent to the last shooter to fire in the direction of rotation unless otherwise defined prior to the start of the event.

  1. “Last man shoots first Custer” rules are the same as above Custer except:

    A.    The last shooter that shot at the previous target will be the first shooter for the next target.

    X. Flurry

  1. A Flurry is shot with two person teams.

  2. A stand is set up on posts 2 and 4 at the yardage to be shot from.

  3. The two shooters take position behind the station and place ten shells on it.

  4. When the shooters are ready, the puller will hold the release button down allowing the trap to cycle automatically until 20 targets have been released.

  5. The shooters can shoot in any order.

  6. No more than one shell at a time can be loaded.

  7. The team score is the number of targets broken.

    XI. Dead Duck

  1. A Dead Duck can be shot from any yardage.

  2. The shooters will line up along the selected yardage line.

  3. The first shooter will be the shooter closest to the #1 position or one of the shooters picked randomly.

  4. If the shooter who calls for the target breaks it, the next shooter in line will call for the next target.

  5. If the shooter who calls for the target misses, any shooter on the line can shoot. If the target is broken, the shooter who called for the target is out.

  6. The shooter next in turn is the shooter next to the one who was just shot out.

  7. The shooter whose turn it is to call for the target DOES NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE REMAINING SHOOTERS TO RELOAD BEFORE CALLING FOR HIS/HER TARGET.

  8. Only the shooter who calls for the target can be shot out unless the shooter breaks his target and someone shoots into his dead target, then they are out.

  9. When the last shooter in line has shot at his/her target the sequence starts over at the beginning of the line.

    XII. Spot Shoot

  1. Each shooter will shoot one target from the position selected by the first shooter.

  2. The second shooter will choose the next spot to be shot from and the previous first shooter will move to the end of the line.

  3. This will continue until all shooters have had a chance to select a spot from which to shoot.

  4. The scoring can be either of two ways:

  1. May be shot as a miss and out. The shooter is out after the number of misses determined prior to the start of the event.

  2. May be determined by high score after all shooters have shot from each spot.

  1. If the event is shot as a miss and out, some shooters may be eliminated before all have had a chance to select the spot to shoot from.

    XIII. Five Bird

  1. Five Bird can be shot from any pre-selected yardage.

  2. Each shooter will shoot one target from each of five positions.

  5. Pay-out is paid one money for each three shooters, high gun.

    XIV.Heidleman (Sunday 50 Bird Handicap)

  1. The Heidleman is a series of 50 bird handicap events shot per PITA rules.

  2. The Heidleman series will close when a shooter scores his/her second win.

  3. There must be a minimum of fifteen shooters per event.

  4. Shooters will shoot at the yardage determined by previous Sunday handicap events.

  5. Shooters shooting the Heidleman for the first time will shoot at their PITA yardage.

  6. New shooters yardage may be established by known ability.

  7. There will be no reductions in a shooters established Heidleman yardage.

  8. A shooter will gain additional yardage by the following:

  1. The shooter winning an event will receive a 2 yard punch and his/her score will be retained on a cumulative pay out sheet.

  2. Ties for high score will be shot off.

  3. When a shooter has won an event twice that shooter will move forward one yard. This will be their new established yardage.

  4. The shooters who had one win posted will move forward two yards to their previous yardage.

    9.The payouts are as follows:

  1. Albany Gun Club will put up $100.00 at the start of each Heidleman series.

  2. Each event will pay down four places 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%. Ties will split the money for that place.

  3. The shooter who wins two events in a series will receive $100.00 and place money for that event.

  4. The shooters who have one win posted for the series will split the accumulated moneys in the progressive pot. The shooter receiving the $100.00 is not eligible.

  5. If a shooter wins the first two events of a new Heidleman series back to back, they will receive $100.00 place money for that event and the money from the previous event that is in the progressive pot.

10.$1.00 from the entry fee of each shooter will go to the accumulated moneys in the progressive pot. $1.50 from the entry fee will go to the place money for the event being shot.

    XV. Payout Schedule

Backers:  Payout for the backers will be one pay for each three teams rounded up whenever more teams than is divisible by three are signed up to shoot.  A payout sheet is posted @ the counter.

Other:  Payout for all other games is the same as backers but is figured out longhand at the completion of that game.
