Silver Stars To Play On Pink Court For Breast Cancer Awareness

The San Antonio Silver Stars will play their annual Breast Health Awareness game on a pink court next month. The court, painted by breast cancer survivors, will be the first WNBA game and first known pro basketball game played on a pink court. Per the San Antonio Business Journal: “NFL players hit the gridiron for a few games each season dressed in pink shoes or gloves to help raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. But San Antonio’s WNBA franchise will take the think pink campaign to a new level. The Silver Stars will play their annual Breast Health Awareness game on a one-of-a-kind pink court. Silver Stars officials believe this will be the first time than a professional basketball game has been played on a pink hardwood. Silver Stars season ticket holders who are breast cancer survivors will help paint the special hoops court, which will be used for the team’s Aug. 17 game against Phoenix.”
