Michael Sheerin (longtime chef at Paul Kahan’s Blackbird) and his brother, Pat, have turned this former Wicker Park bathhouse into one of Chicago’s most original restaurants (Mike has since moved on). The sunken, steampunk-ish space is divided into a big barroom (our go-to) and a glowing dining room. The food reveals the brothers’ knack for crafting unique flavor combinations, whether it’s fried chicken with togarashi or potato gnocchi with Chinese broccoli.

Pickle tots; aged duck breast; Green Hornet (celery, gin, tonic)

Designer Kevin Heisner’s two-level bar top, which doubles the amount of space available for the deceptively simple cocktails and cheffy bar snacks.
