With a sumptuous atmosphere that boasts an intimate bar,elegant wine room and graceful lounge, Truffles in Milford,Massachusetts could easily compete with Boston or Providence bistros inthe looks department. But is the food equal to the mood that thisestablishment sets?We began with two exceptional paper-thin crepes packed with fresh lobster and mushrooms resting in a creamy Madeira sauce.
And then we tucked into an amazing tenderloin bruschetta. The grilledfork-tender beef atop fried eggplant, sauted arugula and roasted redpeppers was drizzled with horseradish sauce, making for an explosion offlavor.
Our appetites in high gear, on we went to an immense Parmesan breadedpork chop, paired with spinach risotto. Cooked to succulentperfection, the double cut chop stood as prime example of how thestellar kitchen staff at Truffles can transform the ordinary intosomething spectacular.
Thinking the meal couldnt possibly get any better, we took knife andfork to the rack of lamb. The three sizeable lollipop chops marinatedin red wine and rosemary and served with mashed potatoes and butternutsquash was remarkable from first bite to last.
Dessert time arrived and we couldnt resist a sampler of four minicheesecakes. From the pumpkin to the apple spice, the double chocolateto the cranberry compote, this cheesecake quartet was magical.
And when we discovered that the maple ice cream with gingersnaps washouse made, we threw caloric caution to the wind and explored yetanother incredible offering.
Service was faultless at Truffles. From the personable greeter to ourfirst-rate server, the atmosphere created at this Metro West gem wasnothing short of magnificent.
For such an upscale dining experience, the price point is reasonable atTruffles, with soups, salads and appetizers from $8.50 to $14; entrees$14.50 to $29.50 and desserts running from $8 to $16.50.
For its gracious ambiance, outstanding cuisine and charming staff,Truffles deserves and will take the rare and coveted Platinum Plate.
