Santa Barbara Fitness Tours offers a variety of Kayaking Tours from leisurely to the most exciting tour in Santa Barbara. Most of our tours are private so you or your group will have your own instructor. Not only will you be using top of the line kayaks, you will also have the safety of our CPR certified Kayak Guides. Location
Most tours launch from our Butterfly Beach setup on the weekends. Depending on which tour you choose during the week we can launch from the Harbor, Leadbetter Beach or Butterfly Beach. If you’re just looking for a rental we have an hourly kayak rental stand set up at Butterfly Beach on the weekends. For weekdays we have full day rental options that include delivery to any beach in Santa Barbara, Montecito, Goleta, and Carpinteria.

Kayak Tours

West Beach Kayak Tour Tour Length: 1.5-2 hours Distance: 2 miles approx. Difficulty: Easy Description: The West Beach Kayak Tour is a calm leisurely paddle through Santa Barbara's beautiful waters. We'll venture in and out of the harbor passing all the onlookers from the pier and out to a buoy with some local seals. We'll return by passing under the pier. This is a very nice and calm kayaking experience with amazing views of Santa Barbara and the mountains enclosing the city. Our guides will ensure everyone is comfortable and has a blast. Butterfly Beach Kayak Tour Tour Length: 1.5-2 hours Distance: 2 miles approx. Difficulty: Easy Description: This is our most POPULAR tour! Our guide will help everyone in and out of the small surf and get you underway. This beach bridges Santa Barbara and Montecito so once you paddle out you’ll have views of the Santa Barbara Pier, American Riveria, some amazing Montecito homes, and all sitting below the Santa Ynez Mountains that jet 4,000 feet up just off the ocean. We’ll kayak down the coast at your pace as this tour is private the guide will cater it to your ability. On clear days the Channel Islands will be in view and your likely to see seals as well as the occasional dolphin.

Group Kayak West Beach Tour When: Saturdays & Sundays, 10am Tour Length: 1.5-2 hours Distance: 2 miles approx. Difficulty: Easy Description: The Group Kayak West Beach Tour is a calm leisurely paddle through Santa Barbara's beautiful waters. We'll paddle in and out of the harbor passing all the onlookers from the pier and out to a buoy with some local seals. We'll return by passing under the pier. There's a lot to see in the harbor and our guides will be sure to point out some of the more interesting things you'll be passing. This kayaking tour in Santa Barbara has one of the best views of the city and the mountains that enclose it. This is the perfect Santa Barbara kayaking experience for all levels as entry into the water is very easy as there are no waves but we can typically find some thrilling areas for those a little more adventurous. American Riviera Kayak Tour Tour Length: 2 hours Distance: 3-4 miles approx. Difficulty: Moderate Description: This tour begins in the harbor and will pass by some of the same beautiful areas the Harbor Tour does. Afterward we’ll take you from the Santa Barbara Harbor down the coast below the American Riviera; one of the best views in all of Santa Barbara! On the way back if you’re lucky there might be little waves breaking into the harbor you can try to ride!

Nick Brown

Kayak and Hiking Guide

A fifth generation Santa Barbara native, Nick grew up in the local hills and mountains, spending as much time exploring in the rock formations as he does paddling in the ocean. Graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2012, I focused in Geology, Film Studies, and Sociology. For the past Five years, I have led groups of up to 80 persons into the local as well as Sequoia National wilderness for hiking, backpacking and fishing trips, specializing in the local flora and fauna. My passion for the outdoors is one of my favorite things to share with visitors as well as locals of this beautiful part of the world, and I think too often we forget to look up from the trail and appreciate what's around us. Every day in Santa Barbara offers a new perspective on what's in bloom, or what fish is swimming through the channel and I hope to go check it out with you!
