Day 1. Welcome to Umbria!
Arrive in Rome, pick up your rental car and make your way to Relais il Castello, in Monte Castello di Vibio, your home for the next 6 nights.
Check-in - Relais il Castello
Centrally located in the Umbria region, Relais il Castello is the ideal base for discovering such charming nearby villages and art cities as Assisi, Orvieto, Todi, Deruta, Spoleto and more. With beautiful views over the valley, the hotel provides an authentic and welcoming atmosphere, in keeping with the history of the medieval village of Monte Castelo di Vibio, in which it resides.
Guestrooms are decorated in the typical style of the historic residences of Umbria, reflecting the peace and tranquility of the surrounding area. The hotel’s swimming pool is located on a terrace with stunning views of the Tiber Valley, surrounded by the landscapes of the Umbrian hills. Day 2. Umbria
Today, Make it a full day excursion and visit Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance. Take a stroll down the same pedestrian streets walked by Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Botticelli while savoring the world's best gelato. Discover the masterpieces hidden on every sidewalk and street corner; say hello to Michelangelo's David then explore the gothic Duomo, an architectural feat which took almost 150 years to build.Â
Time permitting, visit Siena and climb a 100-yard-tall bell tower, and enjoy the view of an urban harmony at its best.
Day 3. Umbria
Spend the morning exploring Monte Castello do Vibio and visit the Concordia Theater, known as the smallest theater in the world.
Make use of your included wine tasting at a vineyard near your accommodation; this authentic experience allows you to sample three local wines from the regions. You'll also get complimentary bread and oil so you can enjoy the sampling while snacking.
Day 4. Umbria
Take an excursion to Perugia, the cozy and charming capital of the Umbria region. Take a stroll along the cobblestone street and explore the many eateries and nightlife options available. Consider a visit to the chocolate factory, where you can learn about the process used to make this confection; the factory tour even ends on a sweet note with a tasting!
On the way back make a stop in the craft town of Deruta, one of the oldest and best known ceramic production centers in Italy.

Day 5. Umbria
Visit Assisi, and its famous Basilica di San Francisco. Explore the well-preserved Temple of Minerva and pay a visit to the excavated Roman Forum.
You’ll find a blend of romance and magic in Assisi’s honey-colored stone, quiet alleyways, and the mists that rise and fall over the Val di Spoleto below the town.
Day 6. Umbria
Take advantage of Umbria's rich olive oil history and treat yourself to an olive-mill tour! You'll learn about the different kinds of olive oil as well as enjoy a tasting alongside a light lunch.
Spend the afternoon at leisure, or take an excursion to the nearby Orvieto. This grand hill town sits one thousand feet above the valley and is known for its Cathedral, Classico wine, and ceramics.
Day 7. Depart Italy
Check-out of the hotel and drive to Rome Airport. Drop off your car at the rental area before making your way to the appropriate gate.
A Tip For Your Trip: Relais il Castello is about a 2 hour drive from the airport.
