Spooky tale, some real creepy moments!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."If it's in a word... or in a look... you can't get rid of the Babadook!" Amelia (actress Essie Davis) is a single mother who, with her young son, experiences first hand the frightening entity that manifests itself in the eerie text of a mysterious book entitled 'Mr. Babadook.' The ominous pop-up illustrations from the pages of the book are but a harbinger of the gruesome presence that soon comes to shroud her home and her life with its evil darkness! Imaginative and creepy, "The Babadook' is a wicked journey into the darkness of the mind as well as the shadows of the supernatural world! Watch it with the lights turned off! But... beware of the shadows in the far corners of the room!

You can't get rid of The Babadook!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very sleepy last night when I put this on, but not long after it started, I WAS WIDE AWAKE. Jennifer Kent's storybook movie and her brilliant actors in the roles of mother[Essie Davis] & son[Noah Wiseman] had me talking to myself and looking at shadows in the corners of my living room. A very good scary movie

You can bring me the boy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is fabulous! I saw it last year and I have been waiting for the American Blu-ray release. I really can't say enough about this film, I beautifully directed, very well written, imaginative, well acted and totally unnerving in all the best ways.

Suspenseful Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Babadook is genuine horror movie. The antagonist torments it's characters psychologically, which is what makes this film creepy. What I enjoyed most is the ending. It reminds the viewer that evil never dies.

The Best Horror Movie of 2014
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only was The Babadook the best horror movie of 2014, it was one of the best movies to come out last year. I've read many reviews from people who did not like the movie, and the majority of them did not understand what the movie actually was. The Babadook is not the typical horror movie that studios endlessly spit out year after year; it does not rely on cheap jump scares to frighten you, and actually has good writing and direction, not to mention phenomenal acting from lead actress Essie Davis. If you go into this movie expecting the latest Insidious sequel, you might be disappointed. What The Babadook is, is a stark portrayal of grief and depression, and how they can take over a person's life and turn them into something ugly. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of horror, or movies in general. The Special Edition cover features a pop-out of The Babadook, which is cool if you don't mind spending a couple bucks more. Otherwise, the normal Blu-Ray is perfectly fine.

Outstanding performances!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rather than relying on gore or shock value, The Babadook brings tension to the screen via outstanding performances by the mother (played by the wonderful Essie Davis) and her incredibly annoying son. Without ever showing too much at once, this film manages to be both creepy and suspenseful. Honestly though, I was more frightened of Essie Davis than I was of Mr. Babadook! Blu-ray quality looks quite good, but it's the audio that conjurs nail biting tension. Very recommended!

Creepy movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the creepiest films I have seen. If you have ever walked into a room and jumped because you saw something you really didn't see, like a piece of clothing draped across a door that looked like a ghost. This film is for you. The director plays mind games with shadows, reflections, and strange sounds. that you might see in your household. A good scary film for any horror fan.

A Very Solid Psychological Horror
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.People had been praising this movie online, so I had to see it. Much to my surprise, the movie was overhyped. Does that make it bad? No. The movie is very enjoyable, realistic (to a degree), and can be scarily relatable. However, the movie, I feel was badly marketed. Don't go into this movie expecting a creature feature or slasher. I don't think this movie is the greatest new horror film created, but it's a good one nonetheless. I still recommend it.
