"Taste Of The Himalayas" our name is a summary of where we are from and what we bring to the table. We are three siblings two sisters Dawa, Pasang, and Pemba T Sherpa raised in the foothills of the Himalayas, Nepal where we were blessed with an opportunity to experience all the different cultures and the wonderful food that came with it from the neighbouring countries. With our restaurant we would like to present you a part of our childhood growing up in Nepal. At Taste of the Himalayas what we serve on the table is blend of Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian dishes, it can simply be referred to as Himalayan cuisine. With our Sausalito location we will be incorporating the freshness of the sea and the locally grown seasonal produce which will definitely give our dishes a whole new dimension. We are all about amalgamating different cultures and cuisines; we bring you the spices from India, spirituality from Tibet, hospitality from Nepal and the freshness of ingredients from California.

Taste of Himalaya is everything you want in a local restaurant. The food is made to order, fresh, and delivered hot to your table. The owners are a family, husband and wife, who make you feel like guests in their home. The setting, to its unassuming and very homey. In the main room you get to watch the kitchen magic from the table, and watch as the kitchen staff enjoy their art as they do it. The potions are the filling and yet, somehow leave ou wanting more. We ordered enough to have a take-home bag, just enough to enjoy a Himalaya lunch tomorrow.

In tourist-friendly Sausalito it helps to remember that the town also boasts plenty of locals who presumedly don't dine at Fish on the regular. They might, however, dine at Taste of the Himalayas.
The Sausalito waterfront isn't necessarily known for its warmth. After an hour outside in the fog and wind, Taste of the Himalayas and their delicious, stomach-warming fare proved to be the solution required to shake off the chill. But it was more than just the food that did that. Someone else mentioned that you feel like family in this warm place and they're not wrong. The owner and his relatives are present and very friendly and engaging. This was apparent not only with my two-person party but also observed when watching the parade of folks coming in to pick up their to-go orders.
Without breaking down each dish ordered (2 entrees, 1 starter) I'll just say that the menu has a whole lot of options, you can request the desire of spiciness you prefer, and everything I tasted was deliciously satisfying.
Since you're reading this on yelp you might also benefit from knowing that TotH often offers yelp deals and even a per-cent off with yelp check-in There's pretty much nothing I didn't enjoy here at this clear locals favorite.Helpful 8Thanks 4Love this 12Oh no 2 - Brittany C.San Francisco Bay Area, CA01Apr 13, 2024
This place was really good we got the tandoori mix and different naans and all of it was amazing. The people were so nice and were very welcoming. I took it to go but it's a small little place with very nice atmosphere! Will definitely come back again!!

Super delicious and loved the decor here! I'll definitely be back :) I biked here and there was no bike rack the but owner (?) said I could leave my bike in the restaurant. Super kind people and tasty food; mild spice was nearly 0 spice so I'd go for medium next time

Amazing food, service and ambience! It's a family run place and they treat you like family when you go in!! Its a regular haunt for us and I reviewed their previous location in San Rafael which they closed up---but just realized I haven't offered up a review for this location!
Everything is flavorful, fresh and delicious. Food comes out piping hot--you really can't go wrong here. I don't eat Indian out much because we cook at home--but when I want to, this is my go to spot! Not to mention I love that they have Nepalese good on their menu as well--their momos are amazing! We love their saag channa, paneer tikka masala, veggie korma, samosa chaat. The hubby loves their chicken dishes...he says the flavor is amazing. Their naans are perfection! We love it. Always had a fantastic food experience. The chef (Utsav) always comes out to talk to us and make us feel welcome. He is attentive and kind and so is the rest of the family!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 1 - Rev. Floyd T.CA, CA010Mar 18, 2024
This is a rare gem of a restaurant. The food is packed with flavor. It is small but not cramped. Finally, the service is impeccable. It is my "go to " place in Sausalito. It is easy to miss. But, once you find it you will not be able nor would you want to forget it!

Such good food!! There are some Indian dishes that are popular but also some amazing traditional dishes from Nepal that are ideal. Try the goat curry.
Everyone that works at this restaurant is extremely nice and helpful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 7, 2023
The food was delicious, so much so that my wife now is quite open to eating more of this genre of food. She previously wanted no part of it. This family-run business is so friendly and nice that you really want to support them. That aside, the service was excellent and the value was also good. Regarding one's comment that the food was bland, perhaps they didn't note that you could order the dishes mild, medium, or spicy. I like spicy and my shrimp certainly was far from bland. This is a favorite take-out spot for our children as well!
