I also bought the groupon that the previous people mentioned and had a little trouble scheduling, but that was my fault also as I took months to use it and wanted to schedule right before it expired. They were booked. HOWEVER, Connie was sweet enough to allow us to use it after the expiration date. Problem solved.
Then finding the place was difficult. I looked it up online, but must have been turned around as I was looking on main near the freeway. Not sure why, 6th street is a major road and they are just off it, but on the farthest side of Corona from us, so a bit of a drive and in an area that wasn't the nicest newest, but still not a big problem. We did find it and made it ontime.
Next, inside is great. They are really set up with all they need to teach. If I lived closer, I would do my daughter the huge favor of taking her here because I cannot cook and hate trying to teach. Connie was great! We enjoyed ourselves and it was a super fun date idea. My new husband, who luckily does like to cook, enjoyed this a great deal, much to my surprise.
We "cooked"
Foccasia bread, a giant tin of it. The ingrediants were all premeasued and we did not get the receipe, so I can't make it again. But I did see some were asking her and writiing it down. I was simply too lazy.
Then a wonderful soup, we didn't have much to do with making it but did get the receipe. I think it is more advanced than I am a cook. Tasted great! It was a pumpkin potato soup.
Dinner was lasagne. Everything was pre-cooked, so again, not necessarily a full learning experience, but it also tasted good and so much that almost everyone needed a to go container. (We thought the little loaf pans were going to be a small serving, we were wrong)
Dessert- a custard kinda like creme brulee. I liked it, BUT....I would not be able to make it again either.
So overall, GREAT date night. FOOD was wonderful! Maybe go with a few other couples you know and you wont have to be irritated by yuppy couples that talk about themselves constantly over dinner.
Oh, and we weren't told, but you can bring your own wine or beer. What a bummer that was having wine envy all night! Then after that there was punch, but for whatever reason, it actually tasted pretty bad. Husband said it was because the oranges that were in it made it bitter. I wondered if it was old and sitting out for days. Either way, bring a beverage of your own liking.
Overall, WE WILL RETURN!
FUN and a great deal.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14339143Sep 7, 2013
Tonight was my second time at Cooking 101. We made French onion soup, coq au vin, and got to brulee a creme brulee. I would have to say our French onion soup was delish. I never knew it was so simple.
The first time I went, we made an amazing linguine with clams in a white wine sauce, bacon wrapped dates, and an olive oil cake. Everything was so yum.
Connie is always helpful and informative when it comes to sharing food tips. Like how to spot good clams, how to get eggs to peak, how to chop an onion, etc.
Can't wait to go again and check out their new Bistro opening up on Monday!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erin R.Riverside, CA62284112May 25, 2012
We had no problems making reservations w/ our groupons the day of class. We made fish tacos, corn salsa and cupcakes. It was fun and the food was delish! Wish we would have known that you can bring your own wine!
Without a groupon, I don't know that I would the price!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cindy B.Fontana, CA30109174Jan 20, 2013
We had so much fun at our date night. Chef Connie is a good teacher. I never new my husband can cook! I used a groupon I had purchased. It was very easy to make an appointment. Website is really useful to see what the menu is foe the week. Best part...you can bring your own alcohol!! We will definitely do it again. Thanks again to Chef Connie and her staff!

The owner, chef, and instructor and her assistant were so nice and extremely helpful. We were asking questions all through out and they'd walk around giving us tips. Honestly, the experience as a whole was GREAT! My boyfriend and I both loved it. We were able to enjoy ourselves within the group but had enough privacy to laugh and just enjoy cooking and learning how to make the dishes together. We made chicken cacciatore and risotto style rice and crepes with apple filling and caramel. It was DELICIOUS and so simple to make! Now we both feel like we can duplicate it whenever we'd like. They, also, had take out boxes so you could take leftovers home! We're already trying to figure out when we can go again and my cousin and her boyfriend are joining. I don't even mind paying full price. That's how great it was!
I say GO! Its a great gift, too. Date night is wonderful. Once a month on Saturday at 6:30 pm. Bring a bottle or two of wine. Be a bit early so you get a good table. Don't expect to leave right after. You are going to want to ask questions. Whatever you wear make sure its comfortable because you're on your feet cooking most of the time. Ladies, bring stuff for your hair if you don't like it loose when you're cooking. Most importantly, DO NOT eat before you head over there. You'll want to punch yourself.
Have fun :DHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany H.Corona, CA217315Nov 14, 2012
Had an amazing date night with my husband! We made Pumpkin Ravioli with Vodka Cream sauce, and Pumpkin Pie. It was awesome how hands on it was. We even made the ravioli dough from scratch. Connie was great and everyone had a lot of fun! Don't forget to BYOB-- my husband and I shared a bottle of wine while we cooked.

What a great experience! I bought the Groupon as well, and had no issue scheduling, and even rescheduling when I got sick. Connie found the perfect balance between having things pre-prepared and allowing us to really feel like we were cooking.
The crepes were delicious and being able to bring a bottle of wine was even more fun. I would highly recommend this for a great date night. I'll be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin B.Riverside, CA031Jan 6, 2013
My wife and I came for a rare date night. We could not have asked for a better experience. We learned a lot that we will try in our kitchen. Dinner tasted great. We have also brought our daughter here for two kids cooking classes and she is hooked. She now helps out in the kitchen.

Cooking 101 has moved to a better location (At the Crossing in Corona)...It's still under construction so pardon their dust. It might be a month or two until it's all finished. However I took a class there last night and had a good time. I will say I liked how they were set up at the old location with Connie being in the middle of the group giving the cooking demo. Last night she was at the end of the table and those on the other end had a hard time seeing what she was doing. I'm sure it won't be like that next time.
Buying the class without a Groupon or coupon is expensive. Classes are now $85 per person. They do have coupons out there that are 50% off but they require a couple so it's $85 for 2. In the past they did Groupon and that by far was the best deal ($59 for a couple or $108 or 2 couples) but it is unsure if they'll continue Groupons.
They let you BYOB...hopefully that will continue. Classes are perfect size and can be accommodating to some dietary needs. We made bacon quiche but I'm a Pescetarian so I brought my own soy sausage. Last time I made a chicken pot pie and they provided Shrimp for me.
It would be a nice touch if Chef Connie would let you sample her food so you can compare your dish to hers. I don't think my crust on my quiche came out right but I didn't have anything to compare it too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary S.Tustin, CA2542Feb 5, 2013
This review is for their customer service or lack thereof.
I called the phone number provided on my groupon to schedule a class, no answer, left a message....no callback.
I then attempted to book the date I wanted online. The date and time I wanted was available, because I was using a groupon I was unable to book online and sent an email request instead. It took the merchant several days to respond to me and in that time the date and time I wanted was no longer available. This follows along with what other reviewers are saying regarding their customer service. I have since made a complaint with groupon.
I just received an email from Connie, stating that they are not actually full but can only accept a limited amount of groupons per session, so they will not be serving me because I have a groupon... HOW TERRIBLE!!!, why offer the groupons if you can't afford to redeem them? The purpose is to create returning customers, not to help your business stay afloat one month at a time.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
