About this Chapter

Share

The National MS Society helps each person affected by MS in our area address the challenges of living with MS. We help by raising funds for cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education and providing programs and services that empower people with MS and their families to move their lives forward.

Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to achieving a world free of MS. Through our chapter’s support services and educational programs for people living with MS and their families and friends, we help connect people in our local communities who want to do something about MS now.

  • We offer many programs — including professional counseling and peer facilitated support groups, educational programs and seminars, referrals to neurologists and healthcare professionals, national teleconferences and internet programs, services for the homebound, and social and recreational programs to assist people with MS and their families in leading productive and fulfilling lives.
  • Our community support helps to fund our local programs and accelerate worldwide research projects to ensure no opportunity is wasted. Generosity can come from anywhere. We are thankful to our members and their friends, corporate partners and the general public who help us raise the money to move us closer to a world free of MS.

The Connecticut-Rhode Island Chapter raises funds through events such as Walk MS, Bike MS, MS Dinner of Champions, JetPull and many others, to ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cause, advanced treatments and a cure for multiple sclerosis. These funds also provide for vital programs and services offered by the chapter to the more than 10,000 Connecticut and Rhode Island residents battling the potentially debilitating effects of MS. These programs and services include: information and referral, education, health and wellness programs, family and social support services, programs designed to address accessibility issues, long-term care assistance and much more.

We are devoted to ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. For 75 years the National MS Society, with its nationwide network of chapters, has moved to create a world free of MS and improve the quality of life for those affected by MS. Through the work of chapters, the society funds research, provides services, furthers education and promotes public policy development on behalf of the 1 million people living with MS in the United States. The Society has invested more than $1 billion to advance MS research and is recognized as the catalyst for all major advancements in MS, including the first therapies for primary progressive and pediatric MS.

With the help of people like you – our event participants, donors, volunteers and corporate partners -- the National MS Society, Connecticut-Rhode Island Chapter addresses the challenges of each person whose life is affected by MS and helps them stay connected to the great big moving world.

MS stops people from moving.
We exist to make sure it doesn’t.
