Windy has been doing my nails forever and I will follow her anywhere she goes!
Love her. Always get non stop compliments!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kerry Q.Charlotte, NC71110114Aug 12, 2013
I went to Studio Hair Design because I wanted to try shellac nails and they offered a Groupon for three visits for a low cost. It's a cute place that used to be the Chamber of Commerce in Beverly. I can't comment on the hair cut/style here because I go elsewhere for my hair care.
I booked my appointment with Marie and went twice but was not happy with the results (gap at bottom almost immediately, bubbles, peeling). I almost ate the cost of the last visit but my sister convinced me to go to her nail tech, Audrey. I went to see her and have to say that she is a miracle worker! My nails always looked immaculate and I got so many compliments on them. I would never go to another nail tech.
I won't be going back to this salon because Audrey is no longer there. Honestly, she's the only reason to go there for nail care. The extremely limited parking poses a challenge regardless of your appointment time. Then there's the behavior I've witnessed in the salon: Grown women treating each other with an attitude and bickering? That just doesn't appeal to me. I already went to high school and have no desire to return to it. So I'm taking my nails elsewhere.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Judy C.Alexandria, VA37411Sep 11, 2013
I did not ever get to visit this salon so this 1 star rating is for customer service. They deserve 0 since they provided NO service.
It's interesting that the poor reviews came from Groupon users. I guess they didn't really want to honor it because I have been trying to make an appointment ever since I bought mine, by calling, leaving messages and using their webform to send emails for months -- no response. I contacted Groupon who reached out to the business owner and then told me that I'd hear from them within 3 days. That never happened so Groupon has agreed to refund my money.
5 stars for Groupon!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - April P.Brighton, MA41137Apr 23, 2012
I'd give 4.5. Linda was very friendly which I'm not used to from my previous salon.
I moved to the north shore 2 years ago and was still driving 45 minutes to get a haircut. I have trust issues with my hair.
Saw favorable reviews here and she fit me in on my lunch break at work.
I has very long thick hair. I ended up getting 10" cut off plus new bangs. I brought a picture from a website (black & white print out), and a photo of me on my cell. She looked at them for maybe 5 minutes, asked some questions and gave me the exact cut i wanted.
Bonus-she sent me a christmas card, which was a nice touch.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lyndsay B.Columbus, OH24616025Feb 28, 2008First to Review
Confession: My one, true vanity is my hair. I know, I shouldn't really care, but I do. I have fine, straight hair, and it's strange, but it has been really difficult to find a stylist that knows how to work with it.
Luckily, I have found this salon. Linda owns and is (currently) the sole stylist of this great salon.
Linda's styling is well balanced. She is funky enough to be trendy, but experienced enough to know just what to do, efficiently.
I love my new hair cut (I got bangs!), and she was able to help me decide that bangs could work for me, again. I haven't had bangs since middle school. She was able to chat with me and keep me entertained.
The prices are great. $35 bucks for a wash, cut and style. You can't beat that price for this kind of service.
My one complaint: she is not open on the weekends in the summer. I know, you're thinking, "Huh?" She is on her boat in the summer, and she wants to have a more normal 9-5 schedule like the rest of us. I can certainly understand that. I guess I'll just have to take off from work early when I need a touch up. A little inconvenient, yes, but totally worth it.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Deanna A.Boston, MA16Aug 12, 2013
The people were nice however this was by far the worst mani/pedi I have ever received. I bought a groupon for $29, the groupon said it was worth $65 so I was expecting a really NICE mani/pedi. Lots of massaging, soaking, the works! There was none of that and my nails look like crap!
My daughter was with me and naturally wanted to get her nails done. I asked the lady at the front (later found out that was the owner) how much it would be to polish my daughter's nails, she quoted me $10. I thought, "not bad." When I went to pay, they charged me $25! They told me because they polished both her hands and feet, it was called a Princess something. I told them I was quoted $10, no one told me that covered one set of nails. A good owner of a small business would've stood by her quote, no matter if there was a little bit of miscommunication.
I will NOT be returning to this salon at all and I will be telling everyone I know not to go here. The groupon is a waste of money since I wouldn't have paid $29 for the mani/pedi I received.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcie B.Peabody, MA15146Mar 20, 2013
Linda is amazing colorist and stylist!!!!! I love her new location, so calm and relaxing!
Everyone is so nice there, they make you feel like one of their girlfriends!, and the salon is always immaculate!
I don't know what Lyndsay B. is talking about in her review about them not being open on the weekends in the summer???, they have always been open on friday and saturdays all year!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erin H.Baltimore, MD04Mar 2, 2014
I recently bought the groupon for a mani pedi for $29. I was running late due to the fact that the weather was terrible had it have been all winter. I called and they still said I could make it. By the time I got there I knew I would not be able to get a pedicure but I really needed the manicure since I had a wedding I was going to that weekend. They were very accommodating in regards to the shellac manicure. As I was leaving, I was charged an extra $10 for the shellac. To say I was upset would be an understatement. I know I was late but they didn't even offer for me to 1. Come another time for the pedicure or 2. To just have me pay for the manicure via the groupon. I ended up paying more than I would have if I had just paid for the manicure and gave a $20 tip! And in the end the shellac barely lasted a week when they usually last 2-3 weeks ! Let's just say I am overall dissatisfied.

I went to Studio Hair Design for manicure and pedicure for the first time. Although I was a Groupon customer, the aesthetician treated me just the same as any other customer. She was friendly and skilled. She said she teaches aesthetic during the day. She sounded and seemed very good at what she does and loves what she does. I highly, highly recommend this place!!!

Went here recently with my best friend since her husband was nice enough to get us Groupons for a manicure and pedicure. The staff was very nice and even took us a little bit earlier than our appointment. They had a good selection of nail polish colors and shellac options. Giving them four stars instead of five because parking wasn't the best and some walk-ins came in during our appointment time, causing us to have to wait for manicure stations to open up. We had no issues with the Groupons and they were more than happy to take them (definitely mention you have a Groupon when you book an appointment, just to be safe). I would definitely come here again to get my hair and nails done!
