Directions

By Foot

The Iron Horse Station is 270.2 miles north of the head of the Appalachian Trail. Start at Springer Mountain, Georgia and go north.

By Air

The Asheville Regional airport is approximately fifty-five miles away from The Iron Horse Station, roughly a 70 minute drive. Flights are available to and from Charlotte, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, and Cincinnati, etc.

The Knoxville Airport, McGhee Tyson, is approximately eighty-five miles from The Iron Horse Station, roughly an hour and a half. It offers flights to and from New York, Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Dallas, and a number of other cities.

Driving

From I-40, coming from the East: As you approach Asheville, take exit 53B onto I-240 West. Go 5-6 miles on I-240. Take exit 4A onto Highway 19/23 North toward Weaverville. Go 8-10 miles until you see a sign that reads Hot Springs 2nd right. Under the underpass, exit right onto Highway 25/70 going north toward Marshall. Follow Highway 25/70 north about 30 miles to the town of Hot Springs.

From I-26, coming from the South: I-26 will turn into I-240 as you approach Asheville. Go 4-5 miles on I-240 to the downtown area. Take exit 4A onto Highway 19/23 North toward Weaverville. Go 8-10 miles until you see a sign that reads Hot Springs 2nd right. Under the underpass, exit right onto Highway 25/70 going north toward Marshall. Follow Highway 25/70 north about 30 miles to the town of Hot Springs. You will see The Iron Horse Station on the left as you come over the bridge and the railroad tracks.

From the North, West: Take I-75 south into Knoxville, TN. From the north, taking Highway 25 East, 116 miles to Newport is generally the best route. The exit number off of I-75 is 29.  In Tazewell, there is only one place where Highway 25 East turns left. Be sure not to miss the turn. Coming in from Highway 209 or Newport, to the west, The Iron Horse Station is on the right side of Bridge Street on S Andrews Avenue, just before the railroad tracks.
