Here is the previous OUPV certificate.
I am ASA-certified BBC and Advanced Multihull sailor, and I have USSailing and an ASA Instructor certifications.
I have a Technician-class HAM license, KJ6NAI.
I've sent several letters to sailing magazines on various subjects (mostly safety related). Here are the most recent ones:
Sail Magazine, April 2011
Cruising World, June 2012
Sailing Magazine, July 2012
During the summer months, I try to go sailing at least several times a month. These days, I'm mostly sailing my boat (a Sabre 30) out of Brickyard Cove, Pt. Richmond. When I'm not doing that, I'm teaching sailing at various locations around the bay and elsewhere.
- During the Winter, I usually go on some extended sailing trip, most recently to Belize, BVI, and Baja.
- If you'd like to see a picture that proves I have a brain, click here. (Special thanks to Dr. Lim at the Lucas Imaging Center at Stanford University.)
- If you'd like to see an EKG that proves I have a good heart, click here.
- At one point, I started to get interested in racing, actually, multihull racing thanks to Thom Davis, who owns a great F-24 Mark II trimaran. At this point, whenever I happen to be one or more of a group of sailboats going in the same basic direction, I call it racing. Of course, it helps if they don't think the same thoughts.
- I have included some links for local sailing clubs and related topics, but I am NOT interested in charging sailors for listing their names. This is a free page. Sailing is expensive enough. If there's enough interest from for-profit companies, I will then buy a larger yacht and retire on it in the Caribbean.
- If you'd like information about sailing lessons, taking a charter, or needing delivery information, let me know.
- I used to own a Windrider,which I sold on Ebay.
- Then, I owned another boat, a Cal 20, which I sold a few years ago. Here is a picture of my last boat.
- Now, I own a Sabre 30. Here are some line drawings from the manual. Click here for details about the equipment on the boat.
- Here is a satellite view from where I usually sail for fun.
