What Is Chiropractic Care?

When people think about Chiropractic care they usually think only about spinal manipulation, or as some of our patients say, “Getting their back popped!”

And while spinal manipulation is a big part of what we do, it is by no means the only thing Chiropractors do.

Chiropractic originated as a hands-on healing art meant to help the body heal itself naturally; the way Mother Nature intended. Along with spinal manipulation, Chiropractors also use Physical Medicine Modalities and Therapeutic Procedures such as electrical muscle stimulation or ultrasound (to promote tissue healing) and manual therapies (to address trigger points). They also help patients make necessary life style changes such as diet and exercise, or even suggest spine sparing strategies to rearrange a work station or sleeping position, which will help a person stop harming himself and get quickly back on the road to recovery.

In many cases, chiropractic care can also include using natural pain remedies to help promote healing and tissue repair, or the use of custom-made foot orthotics to help maintain spinal alignment between visits and improve overall biomechanics and function.

Chiropractic care can be many things, and Paragon Chiropractic would be happy to help you determine the best treatment protocol for you.

Corrective Exercises

Along with chiropractic care, we make it our priority to get to the root cause of your complaints. Often a missing link to resolving many problems is not getting to the cause of what is causing your pain. We come up with tailored corrective exercises and lifestyle changes to help modify particular movement compensations. We can spot those compensations during your examination and adjustment and then show you specific exercises that will begin to reestablish new movement patterns so your body can function optimally.

MyAct

The sound waves generated by the PiezoWave2 MyACT is patient led and guided. They converge at a controlled point within the soft tissue to produce an intense, extremely short duration pressure pulse that delivers therapeutic treatment in areas difficult to reach by other methods.

MyAct provides clinically “focused” treatment at the exact location of your pain or problem. Compromised tissue, trigger points, and unhealthy tissue can be “flared” with MyAct. The flare represents the “exact” location of your pain or problem.

How MyACT is used:
● Overuse soft tissue injuries
● Plantar Fasciitis(heel pain)
● Tennis Elbow
● Golfer Elbow
● Rotator Cuff injuries
● Runners Knee
● Achilles Tendonitis
● Frozen Shoulder
● Ligament Sprains
● MCL injuries
● Myofascial Trigger Points
● Swimmers Shoulder
● Muscular strains
● Almost any musculoskeletal complaint

What to Expect
An individual MyACT treatment takes between 10 and 20 minutes. Normally, 1-2 treatments per week are performed. A total of 4-7 treatments may be necessary to achieve lasting improvement.

Side Effects
Side-effects are limited to reddened skin and /or minor soreness in some cases.

CryoFos: Cryofos for Pain Relief

Cryofos “The Ice Gun” is a hand-held wand that looks like a gun, and from it is dispersed liquid carbon dioxide that becomes a very cold gas at room temperature.

How Cryofos Works
Basically, we will wave this wand over your sore area and within a few seconds, it will reduce the surface temperature of your skin to between 39 and 34 degrees Fahrenheit. This causes a thermal shock to the area which reduces pain, but more importantly, it causes dilation of the deeper vasculature which cleans out the histamines and prostaglandins responsible for your pain. In addition to this, the Ice Gun also stimulates two tracts in your spinal cord that are responsible for pain, pressure and other sensations that might not feel so good at times.

The Ice Gun is great for the following:
● post-surgical areas on your body
● dental implant pain
● joint pain
● sprains and strains
● inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, chronic neck and back pain

If you would like, look up Cryofos online, and watch some of our videos. It’s been available in Europe for the past 12 years or so and has only recently been approved by the FDA for use in the USA.

This device is similar in action to the Ice Boxes people have been hearing about and other cryotherapies, only this is much more targeted through the wand.

Currently, Paragon Chiropractic is the only facility in Arizona that offers Cryofos. If you would like to learn more or schedule an appointment, please contact us today.

Whole Health

Whole Health Consultation

This is where we take time to learn about you. There are specific aspects of a person’s overall wellness, meaning their health, happiness and overall enjoyment of life. You have to take into consideration all of the factors, no one being more important than the next. A few of the main factors we take a deep dive into are sleep, nutrition, relaxation, exercise and social well being. We are able to take a look from a different vantage point that allows us to make influential recommendations.

Acupuncture: What is Acupuncture?

Early Chinese physicians discovered an energy network traversing below the surface of the skin. This network communicates to the internal organs and forms over 1000 “Acupoints” on the body. This energy network works in harmony with the body’s circulatory, nervous, muscular, digestive, genitourinary and all other systems of the body. When this vital energy is blocked or weakened, organs and body parts are affected. Stimulation of one or a combination of key “Acupoints” on the body may restore harmony to the affected area.

Will Acupuncture hurt?
Because of the extreme slenderness of the needle, most people compare the sensation as “less than a mosquito bite”.

What is Acupuncture used for?
Acupuncture has been used to treat well over one hundred conditions, but the most common uses are for pain control and addiction control including smoking cessation. To learn more about acupuncture, please check out our video!

Foot Care

For 70 years, Foot Levelers has been making custom orthotics that are clinically proven to help reduce pain and improve whole body wellness by balancing the body from the ground up. Your feet are your foundation. And structural imbalances in your feet can lead to issues throughout the body like permanent postural changes, overpronation, plantar fasciitis, low back pain, knee pain, hip pain, sciatica, or Achilles tendinitis.

Your feet don’t even have to be hurting to cause some of these issues. Foot Levelers custom orthotics, Shoethotics® and Sandalthotics® can help by properly supporting and positioning the feet.

A foot scan or impression shows how imbalances in the feet lead to problems throughout your body. The orthotics are then made off your foot scan or impression.

Only Foot Levelers custom orthotics support all 3 arches of the foot. Your arches give the foot strength to support the body in a balanced fashion. Balancing your foundation can help relieve pain and avoid future issues. Ask us about getting scanned or download Foot Levelers Patient Catalog for more information.
