PATTY GRANVILLE, GSM's Co-Founder and Producer has been the Director of the Garland Center for the Performing Arts since its opening in 1982. She was one of the founders of the Garland Summer Musicals, serving as Producer of the GSM since its inception in 1983. Patty has a degree in Theatre and Speech from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. and a Master’s in Theatre from UNT. She played the romantic lead in the famous outdoor drama The Common Glory and then became “Miss Patty” on the nationally syndicated children’s TV show Romper Room. In addition to leading roles at Casa Mañana and dinner theatres throughout the Southwest, Patty has been featured in numerous productions of the GSM, including 1996 when she co-starred with the late legendary Broadway performer John Raitt in South Pacific. She also starred in 9 to 5 The Musical, Hello Dolly, 42nd Street, Mame, Annie Get Your Gun, The Will Rogers Follies, Anything Goes, Gypsy, Carnival and I Do! I Do! She has also appeared in GCT productions including: Queen Eleanor in The Lion In Winter; Grizabella in CATS!; Queen Elizabeth in Mary Stuart; and Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. In 2002, the GISD Fine Arts Division named their annual High School Theatre Awards Program in her honor; and on Feb. 4, 2003, the Garland City Council voted to rename the Garland Performing Arts Center, the Patty Granville Arts Center.
