Big Juan’s tacos y burros is a new, quick-service Mexican restaurant concept will launch its first-ever restaurant in Tucson, Arizona, this spring. The first location is set to open April 21 and the second location is set to open in May.
From breakfast burros to street tacos, the brand will offer a robust menu of fresh and authentic Mexican food in generous portions, including a variety of burros that each weighs more than one pound. Big Juan’s will service customers 24 hours a day and will serve breakfast all day, too.
The concept was founded by the Catalina Compadres restaurant group, a team of four restaurant visionaries with a combined 150 years of experience in owning and operating both quick-service and full-service restaurants.
“Launching Big Juan’s in Tucson first was an obvious choice for me as my family has roots and history in Tucson,” says John Schwimmer, co-founder of Big Juan’s tacos y burros and CEO of Catalina Compadres. “Tucson is where I opened my first restaurant years ago, it’s where my son was born and went to college, and it’s a city that I truly enjoy.”
Schwimmer explains that at Big Juan’s, a customer’s food isn’t made until it is ordered to further guarantee the food’s freshness.Customers are served only USDA choice beef and fresh grilled carne asada, polla asado, pork and shrimp.
“What we have created in Big Juan’s is a style of Mexican food and service that doesn’t currently exist in the Tucson marketplace,” Schwimmer says. “All of our recipes use fresh ingredients and are made from scratch continually throughout the day, just as if it was prepared in the customer’s own kitchen.”
Menu items will include traditional Mexican breakfast items such as huevos rancheros and chorizo. Patrons can also enjoy authentic style fish, shrimp, beef and chicken street tacos, burros, enchiladas, totopo salads, pozole, tortas, chips and dips, and Mexican juices.
Another key difference at Big Juan’s is the value that customers will find in every meal. Prices for menu items range from $3 to $10, and every item is served up in very generous portions. Big Juan’s also offers customers a complimentary salsa bar, featuring a variety of homemade salsas and fresh vegetables.
