Greetings from the desk of Vince Paul

VINCE PAUL
President and Artistic Director

What a fantastic month for the city of Detroit! We kick off the month celebrating our beloved Tigers’ Opening Day on April 5, then close out with the NFL Draft -- the largest Detroit-hosted event since Super Bowl 2006. While hundreds of thousands of fans gather here, another 60 million people will tune in from around the world from April 25-27. We couldn’t be any prouder of our city.

And we’re here to carry you through from the baseball to the football. The main stage welcomes The New Divas on the 18th, fresh from the hit PBS performance filmed in Vienna; followed by the return of the beloved Stylistics & Spinners on the 20th; an R&B super show on the 21st with Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King; and a Detroit movement favorite -- Parsons Dance on the 28th.

With more than a few tears and all the love in our hearts, we are preparing for the farewell performance of Foxxy Gwen Foxx, who has been our Wednesday night artist-in-residence for six years and is relocating to be near family. With her signature sultry and strong vocal stylings, Gwen has enchanted thousands of people in Aretha’s Jazz Café and we wish her all the best. And we’ve already requested guest bookings for whenever she’s back up this way. The Café has a packed schedule all month, with tribute shows, poetry slams, smooth jazz trumpet and uplifting soul sounds, and our Sunday evening Jazz Jams.

Don't forget, you can reserve a Jazz Cafe table before every show at http://jazzcafedetroit.com/contact

Keep up with the latest and greatest by finding us on all of your favorite social channels… Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

As always, "I'll see you downtown"
Vince
