Practice Philosophy: The "Onion" approach

My philosophy regarding my practice is what I have dubbed the "Onion" approach. The body has many layers - such as the skin, the fascia and the muscles - just like an onion. When I approach a massage session, I explain to my clients that I will start off with a lighter pressure (approximately 5 grams - or the weight of a nickel) to allow the body to get used to my touch. Once the body has gotten used to the weight of my touch, I will then begin to work a little deeper (i.e. peeling another layer of the "onion" away) and slowly increase the amount of pressure that I use to help release any tension or tightness in the muscle or area that I am working. My whole philosophy is by starting out with a lighter pressure during a session, and slowly working deeper actually achieves more in the long run, rather than use very deep pressure right away.

Why I do what I do:

I was first introduced to Reiki & Energy Work at age 8. Intrigued at the possibilities of what energy work could do— I expanded my knowledge to be trained in Cranial Sacral Therapies by the time I was  16 years old.   I chose to experience the “traditional” college experience—and completed a double bachelor’s degree in German & Ancient/Medieval history in three years, graduating from UW-Green Bay in May of 2009.  After experiencing health related issues in 2009 & early 2010, I had the proverbial “light bulb” moment when I realized that I needed to return to practicing Energy Work. That  moment is whenI made the decision to go to school to become a Massage Therapist.  I have  experienced the benefits of massage, and wanted to be able to give back and help others the way massage has helped me.

I completed a year long program at Blue Sky School of Massage and graduated in August 2011. I am a Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist whose main specialty is Reiki and Cranial Sacral Therapy. I also do relaxation massages and incorporate a wide variety of modalities during the sessions.

My goal is to help clients on their goals towards healing!
