lotus
lotus
Lotus have tall leaves and flowers that can shoot up many inches above the waters surface. Lotus flowers range in size and color. The most common colors are pink, white, yellow and red. Some blossoms are intensely fragrant.
Lotus often go dormant in the winter time. This can mean that the plant’s leaves die back to a smaller version of it’s summer self, or that the leaves disappear completely. Don’t be alarmed. Lotus usually reappear in April or May. Just don’t forget to fertilize.
Lotus do well in sunny, humid locations without flowing water. They grow vigorously between late April and early October. Generally, we replant our Lotus at least every other year in February before the tubers start to sprout.
