If you've ever spent a few minutes creating your avatar on the Xbox 360 or a Mii on the Nintendo Wii, you know how fun it can be to make your own little mini-me. But unlike those character generators, newcomer Foldable.me creates a little paper statue of yourself that you can hold, play with, and send to friends as a unique and silly gift.

Foldables are custom 3D paper dolls that you make with the click of your mouse. Thanks to the myriad of options for eyes, ears, hair, nose, and more, you can make a four-inch paper doll with your facial features and even an outfit of your choosing. It took me about fifteen minutes to make a Foldable that I felt resembled me -- my hair turned out a little lighter than I anticipated when printed, but I love the way it turned out overall. You could probably spend hours fiddling with the options to make the perfect miniature you. Once you've used the web site to create your tiny avatar, it will be shipped anywhere in the world for free and arrives in a flat piece of laminated card stock. The recipient pops out the mini-you, and after a few quick and easy folds along the scored lines, they have a new little friend to take with them anywhere.

Foldable.me started as a Kickstarter project that was 1000% funded by 919 backers. Created by Mint Digital, the same company behind Stickygram, Foldable.me co-founder Kejia Zhu shared some of his motivation for creating Foldables in a company press release. "In a world of mass-manufacturing, we want to let customers be creators," he said. "Many gifts purchased online are a bit soulless. Something you've designed has an emotional connection that money can't buy."

Not only can you send your mini-me to friends and family, my wheels have been spinning on the endless geeky possibilities. You could use the Foldable.me generator to make your favorite space-faring adventurer or doctor, characters from beloved books and films, and more, and then decorate your desk or home with a legion of paper statues.

Foldable.me launches today and each Foldable costs $11.99 with free worldwide shipping.
