Q:
Orchestra left and right seats...good or not?
A:
They suffer a little in terms of the views but the accustics in the building are so good that the sound is excellent in the side seats. If there is a soloist performance you may lose a little there.

I love the Powell Symphony hall! I go a few times per year and it is always a great time! I recently went to thier free Juneteenth concert and it was spectactular! They had a great program and it is always varied- not just instrumentals by the orchestra, they had the choir singing as well, had a few spoken word moments and they also had some outstanding soloists! I love attending their Christmas concerts too! I love being able to afford tickets relatively close, so I have never had to sit in the nosebleed section. I can't wait to see how their renovations and additions enhances this gorgeous venue!

Whether you like traditional music or something a little different, I highly recommend Powell Hall. I had such an amazing experience recently watching Jurassic Park live that I'm going to become a regular! If you ever see a movie event, they remove the music from the movie and play it live, it's absolutely breath taking and such a cool way to see your favorite movie!

My hubby took me to the symphony on a surprise date and I loved it . It was a tribute to Whitney Houston night and it was quite elegant. I loved it all . The location was great. Parking was right across the street , thank god since it was so cold. It felt like royalty when you walked in. They gave you fans in case you were hot, a booklet of the night events and coat check for your coats. The singer was great and the music was awesome. Those instruments can make music on its own . The ambience was beautiful. Drinks were expensive and not worth the price and no food was offered. But that's not a deal breaker I'll definitely be back

Another perfect evening at Powell. The performance was incredible. Since we are becoming regulars, purchased some wine sippy cups.

Great acoustics, not a bad seat in the house. Parking was easy, since there were no other major events in the Grand Center. Well staffed, the lines moved quickly to enter, as well as the concessions. The SLSO performance was incredible. I'm hooked, and can't wait to return.

Powell Hall is a beautiful and classic symphony venue that is easy on the eyes and a treat to the ears. From Beethoven's fifth symphony to Disney movies in concert, there's something for everyone here. There are events year round, but my favorite time to visit is during the holidays, when the hall is especially festive and splendid. Tickets are reasonably priced, can be purchased online, over the phone, and in-person. SLSO is a group with many talents, and how lucky we are to have Stéphane join as the new music director this year!

Always love coming to the symphony - especially at Christmas! It is gorgeous and the musicians are so talented. Their drink prices are also very reasonable. Would recommend during a visit to STL!

Powell is the place to be for a symphony concert. Not like their is a lot competition but despite that I feel like they have made some improvements since my last visit. They now allow you to take your beverage to your seat which is an improvement over having to suddenly gulp down a glass of wine you ordered without realizing you must finish it before the show. Oops. But importantly it is the great acoustics that make this a lovely venue to hear music.

I have been coming here since I was a little girl and every single time has been amazing. From the velvet chairs to the magnificent chandeliers, it truly is a beauty to take in. Then the shows begins and the true magic starts. We have some amazing musicians in our symphony and in the multitude of shows I have been to, I have never heard them play a wrong note. To complement our phenomenal entertainers, the staff and volunteers ooze with kindness and are always waiting to help you with a big smile on their faces. If you are looking for somewhere to spend a lovely evening or a great cause to donate your money to, look no further because the SLSO is just the place.

I came here last week for a Christmas concert with Oleta Adams and the In Unison Chorus. Powell Hall is probably my favorite performing art space in St. Louis. It is a beautiful building and even more beautiful all decorated for Christmas. The concert was full of magnificent music and put me in the Christmas spirit. I also enjoy coming here when the symphony orchestra plays the score along to movies. So far I've been to Harry Potter and Jurassic Park. I hear that they have recently upgraded their sound system so that the dialogue of the movie sounds better. Cannot wait to be back for another concert soon!

Tonight's the Music of Queen- 6/17 is the Music of Whitney Houston - just in case you thought the Grammy winning St Louis Symphony only appealed to classical fans!

I wish the conductor was miked so we could hear his commentary. Without that the rehearsal wasn't very enlightening nor as illuminating as I had hoped. I recognize that this is an event designed to elicit funds; I would be far more likely to give if I felt this was in any way informative. As always the orchestra was fabulous- St Louisans should be filling every seat! We are so fortunate to
have a world class orchestra. The.
