The Italian-themed Venetian casino is bringing Da Vinci’s whole life to Las Vegas.

Starting this Friday, June 15, the Venetian will present Da Vinci - The Genius, what it calls “the most comprehensive exploration of Leonardo da Vinci’s work ever created.” The show comes here from stints in Vancouver, Moscow and Madrid, and explores the remarkably broad scope of Leonardo Da Vinci’s work as an inventor, artist, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, musician and architect. It showcases more than 200 unique pieces, including 75 life-size versions of his mechanical inventions, three-dimensional renderings of his most notable Renaissance works, and an extensive in-depth analysis of his most famous piece, “Mona Lisa.” The exhibit is also interactive: visitors will be able to push, pull, and crank many of these displays for a hands-on understanding of the scientific principles behind them.

“This exhibition was created by Australia's Grand Exhibtions to celebrate Leonardo da Vinci’s great works and place them all together in a single location where people can come and marvel at the brilliance of this great mind. We’re delighted to bring this exceptional project to Las Vegas as our first in the Imagine Exhibitions gallery,” said Tom Zaller, president of Imagine Exhibitions, the company behind the showcase. “Da Vinci – The Genius offers visitors of all ages and backgrounds an entertaining, educational and enlightening experience, whether they are art and history aficionados or seeing da Vinci’s work for the first time.”

The exhibit features 13 themed areas and while many know the artist for his famous portrait hanging in the Louvre, this also gives visitors a look at the foresight of a man who imagined some of modern society’s most impactful inventions, the helicopter, airplane, automobile, submarine, parachute, and bicycle. These inventions were brought to life by Italian artisans for this show, many with techniques and materials from the Renaissance period.

The highest profile component of the exhibit is the Secrets of Mona Lisa, based on the recent findings of French scientific engineer and fine art examiner, Pascal Cotte. In 2004, Cotte was granted unprecedented access by the French government and the Louvre and was permitted to take the portrait off the wall and out of its frame to conduct a scientific analysis. This exhibit showcases Cotte’s study and 25 of his most compelling findings, illustrated by 40 super-magnified, high-resolution sectional images exploring every aspect of the most famous piece of art ever created

The new exhibit opens Friday, June 15 and daily hours are from 10AM – 9PM. Tickets will be available in advance at the Venetian box office and online for $25 (children 12 and under $18).
