Has anyone been here recently, their phone isn't working and I'm not sure if they're still open?

      A:

The building is up for lease on Loopnet. So it would appear that they are closed. The doors are locked and the phone is nonfunctioning. Very sad as this was my favorite sushi spot.

I gave this place two tries, and they definitely went 0-for-2. It is just atrocious sushi...not fresh, assembled poorly, and rude service over the phone (although the elderly lady was kind when I picked up).

I can stomach most anything I pay for, but I couldn't continue to eat this sushi. When I'm eating raw fish, I prefer it to be fresh...and this tasted, how do you say it? Not fresh.

I was heartbroken to throw away sushi, but I just couldn't force myself to keep eating. For what it's worth, I tried the volcano roll, Philadelphia roll, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and a couple others I can't remember....really doesn't matter since none of them hit the mark.

Threw this all away because it was so bad

Some of the best Hot and Sour soup in town! Lunch specials are a great deal - a Bento Box with soup, salad, cali roll, and main dish (teriyaki chicken, salmon, etc...) with rice is only about $8 depending on what you order as your main.
I've been in with just my husband for a quick lunch and with a larger group for dinner. Food is always amazing and comes out pretty quickly.
FYI - Sake flights are a fun way to try several varieties and, in my case, find out you really don't care for sake!

There are a few sushi places in downtown Omaha and I decided to try this one next! Here is the low down...prices are average, service was good, restaurant is clean and the sushi was solid but nothing door blowing good! I got the Honolulu roll, spicy salmon and spicy tuna! All were what I expected and nothing bad! For the price it's a good choice! I think if you want more upscale or famctt then others would be better! Want low key and reasonable this place checks the box!

This is, hands down, my (and my husband's) favorite sushi spot in the Omaha metro.

Service is always pretty prompt, and the dining area has never been crowded or busy in the nearly 20 times we've come here. It's not as "upscale" or modern as some of the other local spots for sushi, but I appreciate the home-y feel!

For starters, we usually get a carrot ginger salad (for me) & a hot and sour soup (for him). Occasionally, we get the fried asparagus (yum!).

We've only tried sushi here, so I can't speak to the Chinese selections... we ALWAYS get a sentai roll (C91 ;) ) and then we pick out one or two more rolls each time. Honorable mentions: funky monkey & chili Philadelphia rolls.

PS they usually have a dinner Groupon - $12 for $20!

After landing in Omaha I was starving and craving sushi so I yelped the closest sushi and found myself at Matsu.

The ambiance is nice. Very quaint and quite. There were only two other people there when I visited. (You have to pay for parking on the street)

The food was lack luster. I ordered three different rolls which they all contained salmon one way or another and the fish was obviously not fresh... the color of it was brownish... ugghhh. Maybe I have high expectations for sushi to at least have fresh fish. Isn't that what it's all about? Or maybe I'm asking to much of a sushi joint in the middle of the US.. hmm

Any who I wouldn't return for the food and wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Although the food wasn't the best the service was great!

Looked better than it tasted unfortunately

Had the chance to visit this hidden sushi restaurant thanks to a groupon. Classic sushi bar motif with large menu and options. On the Wednesday i was there we happened to be the only patrons at the time. Had never had a boat before so went all about as it was a friends bday. Service was excellent and attentive. Sushi was fresh and aesthetically beautiful on the boat. Cocktails were excellent per my capadres and tap water was average for me! Jk
The highlight was the awesome bday gift given to the birthday girl. 5 ceramic cats in a set. Pretty unique!

Authentic and not for the basic California roll eaters! This has been my secret hole in the wall sushi place in Omaha for over five years. The environment is a very traditional Japanese sushi bar look.

The sushi can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. If you go off the basic menu, you can expect average results. If you explore onto the speciality rolls, you will be very pleased.

The prices are very fair and portion sizes below average.

I usually stop in if I am looking for a cheap quick bite alone.

I'm hovering between a 3 and 4 star on this one. We decided to use a groupon we had purchased ($10 for 20 dine in) on a Sunday night. Sunday night often =dead, no exception this time there was a lot of parking (free after 5pm!) to be had. I totally recommend to dine on Sunday nights and snag a good spot.

The menu here is pretty extensive for sushi. A few highlights on the menu was that there was a picture menu in case you are unfamiliar with some of the common sushi rolls and ingredients. They are also very explicit about the number of pieces in a roll order. Nothing worse than assuming you'll get 8 and there are only 4 small pieces on the plate. Other than that there are some nice Japanese food options like bento boxes and don dishes, udon, and other options which I didn't really explore.

We tried the katsu don and a few rolls. I was pretty impressed at the service overall. Our waiter was a younger guy, and all the waitstaff was attentive, polite, and through with explaining dishes as they arrived and making sure we didn't need anything. Really great service overall.

The food was ok, the Don was a little on the salty side but still pretty tasty. The three rolls were enjoyable. Fresh fish and not overally drenched in sauces or condiments. I think the groupon deal is pretty good. I would recommend this as a groupon purchase--I see it on there pretty often.

I was looking to try a new sushi place and I'm sure glad I did! So many vegetarian options (about a dozen)! It's so great to have more options than just avocado or cucumber. I loved the combinations which included tofu and peanuts, and also spicy mayo and mango, which are often not offered in veggie rolls.

The only complaint I had was that the waiter left me sitting for about 15 minutes after he gave me the drink menu I requested. Overall however the service is pretty good. The food was fresh and very delicious. I will definitely be back. I also got the tidal wave cocktail. They pour a good strong drink.

Love it! This little place is slightly out of the old market, but worth the walk. The service is kind of slow and there can be an awkward silence if you are the only person there.
The vegetable options are splendid. My current favorite of a spicy avocado roll. Excellent preparation and terrific taste. I have never had a bad time here. My friends' dishes also looked great. Very fresh and displayed well. These guys also have a decent grasp of Groupon so i don't hesitate to buy the biggest offer because i know i will use it
