Course Information

5K Course Description

Mile 1

Runners exit the main event site and head down a dirt/gravel trail that follows the perimeter of the Georgia International Horse Park. The trail is wide and shaded by large trees and gives runners a good jump start on the course.

Mile 2

The trail emerges from the trees as runners pass the barns and stables of the horse park. After crossing the road, the course picks up one of the many riding trails into the woods. As runners exit the woods they may catch a glimpse of the Olympic Rings!

Mile 3

After crossing the road again the course follows the Olympic mountain biking course. The rocky terrain is a bit tricky but only lasts a short distance. Runners cross under the roadway through a tunnel before making their way back towards the main event site for a water crossing through the river and a refreshing MUD crawl!

10K Course Description

After crossing the road the course picks up one of the many riding trails into the woods. The trail through the woods narrows and provides runners with the only hills of the course. Not too far into the wood the 5K course takes an early exit as the 10K continues through the trees.

Mile 3

Runners continue through the rolling hills and open fields as they pass old horse jumping facilities built for the 1996 Olympic Games. The trail continues to loop through open fields and past an old cemetery.

Mile 4

Just past the Olympic Rings the 10K course meets back up with the 5K course. Runners cross the road again as the course follows the Olympic mountain biking course. The rocky terrain is a bit tricky but only lasts a short distance. Runners cross under the roadway through a tunnel before heading into the Steeplechase Field.

Mile 5

The trail follows the perimeter of the Steeplechase Field and ducks into the woods and mountain bike trails.

Mile 6

The trail exits the woods and turns to dirt/gravel as it passes a miniature railroad station back towards the main event site, a quick dip in the river and refreshing mud crawl!
