Many women look to professional laser hair removal for their bikini areas. Knowing more about what the full process entails and how it can help will allow you to decide whether this treatment will be for you.
This procedure can improve your life in many ways, including:
Preparation for bikini laser hair removal begins roughly one and a half months prior to your first treatment. To get good removal results, you must limit or stop waxing, plucking, and electrolysis, so the hair to be removed can grow in.
Another important preparation step is avoiding exposure to the sun as much as you can in those 6 weeks. It will benefit you in the future because you’ll have lower risks of complications after treatment. Less sun exposure can also increase the effectiveness of the laser treatment.
To begin, the hair you’ll be treating needs to be trimmed to just above the skin. Your technician will apply topical numbing cream and give it about 20 or 30 minutes to work.
Next, the laser equipment is prepared. The settings are adjusted based upon the hair’s color and thickness, as well as the location on your body being treated. For example, facial skin would be far thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your legs.
You will be provided protective eye wear if needed, and a cooling device or gel will be applied to the treatment area. The laser will be used now for the first time. This will be an assessment of whether the settings need to be changed before the full treatment continues.
If the settings are good your technician will complete the treatment and you may be provided with pain relief such as ice packs, creams, or lotions. You will be able to come back in 4 to 6 weeks’ time.
Since this is a procedure, there will be recovery time. Initially, the treated areas may look and feel sunburned. You may be advised to use moisturizers and cool compresses. Over the next month or so, the hair in the areas you’d treated will fall out.
