Capri native Marco Pipolo runs this intimate neighborhood spot in Murray Hill along with his wife Claudia. The striking blue and white glass chandelier, genial ambiance and house-made pastas (including the popular Ravioli of the Day which is only available at lunch-time) give the regulars reason to return, but also gives newcomers reasons to try them. The three course lunch prix fixe menu, $28, offers your choice of appetizer, main course and dessert: try the grilled mussels, salmone al limoncello, and finish with the Italian ricotta cheesecake - lovely.

Taking over the iconic Umberto's Clam House of Little Italy, this new spot focuses on la cucina rivista, a modern interpretation of classic Southern Italian dishes. The menu traverses the regions of Puglia and Salento where olive oil, fava beans and seafood are stars. As the name implies, raw and simply dressed fish such as tartars and carpaccios are key components. From cod croquettes to pasta with swordfish, olives, pistachios and saffron, Crudo's menu will surprise and delight everyone.

Junoon, a modern Indian restaurant in Chelsea, is a great place to go when the crowds at Eataly are too much, just around the corner. The restaurant celebrates five of the country's cooking styles: Tandoor (clay Oven), Handi (curry), Sigri (open fire pit), Tawa (cast iron), patthar (stone cooking). The $24.07 three course prix-fixe lunch covers all five elements and the Piri Piri Shrimp (Goan Chili Shrimp, Avocado and Jicama salad, Garlic-Balsamic Vinaigrette; pictured) is one of the most popular dishes. Have a blast working your way through the menu of all five cooking styles!
