Everything was going well until..... 8/16/2013

My experience with Wings Aloft was going really well. I purchased a gift certificate for my husband for Christmas from Kris. Extremely helpful. My husband had a medical issue which prevented him from getting his medical release. We were promised a refund, but 4 months later, we are still fighting with the owner. I feel sorry for the employees because they have to deal with stuff that is out of their control. more

Cannot Recommend 3/3/2012

I purchased my wife a gift certificate for a flight lesson at Wings Aloft as a birthday present. Unfortunately soon after I purchased it, she had knee surgery and her doctor forbade her from flying for six months due to concerns about pressure on her knee. She contacted Wings Aloft and they referred her to owner Mr. Steve Lee. She described her situation to Mr. Lee, including name of her surgeon and offered to get a letter from him. Mr. Lee refused to extend the validity of the certificate and only offered that he would give her a credit on a multi-thousand-dollar lesson package. I wouldn't consider this until seeing how she would like her lesson and whether she had aptitude for flying. I feel this is extremely poor customer service and a greedy response by Wings Aloft and Mr. Lee. Wings Aloft continues to offer exactly the same gift certificate, and it must obviously be a way to attract potential students. But I cannot recommend Wings Aloft after Mr. Lee's inflexible and greedy response. more

Great Experience – Highly Recommended 5/22/2011

The introductory flying lesson offered by Wings Aloft is a great experience. They told us that we would get to do most of the flying when we made our reservation, but I really didn’t believe it. It’s true! My husband and I both took turns flying the plane over Seattle and Bellevue and took dozens of pictures. Highly recommended! more

Great Intro Flight. Fun!! 5/18/2011

Couldn't have been cooler. Sun was out, I did my Groupon Intro Flight today. We flew over Alki Beach, the waterfront and Queen Anne Hill, then over my house. Ben, my flight instructor, was amazing and helped me to do both the take off and landing, and we survived. If you're looking to do something new, different and tons of fun, this is the ticket. I got it as a Christmas gift. more

Intro Flight is Very Cool! 2/19/2011

The introductory flight lesson experience that Wings Aloft offers is very cool. We combined 3 introductory flights into one and flew from Seattle to Friday Harbor, Orcas Island and back to Seattle. There’s an additional charge to stopover in each destination and explore or have lunch or dinner, but it’s well worth it. It’s one of the most fun things that we have done in a long time. Highly recommended! more

Really Great Experience 2/6/2011

My husband and I did a introductory flight lesson with Wings Aloft on Thursday. It was a really, really, fun experience. Our instructor was great - unbelievably calm and cool. Be sure to bring your camera. The view is amazing. more

Wonderful Experience 1/31/2011

I purchased introductory flights for our family as a Christmas gifts. My 16 year old son is in love with the thought of being a pilot and it seemed like lessons would be a wonderful family experience to share. Wings Aloft was great and allowed us to all fly in the same airplane and even created a special flight route from Seattle to Snohomish and Port Townsend and then back to Seattle. It really was amazing to see everything from only 2,000 feet. Our instructor was a great teacher, very calm and detailed, and we all got a chance to do a takeoff and landing – which I never expected (even though they said we would be able to). The flight lessons were a really wonderful experience and one of the best things we have done as a family in the last couple of years. more

Buyer Beware 12/8/2010

The owner is well known on Boeing Field for being a scoundrel and hasn't made a profit in years. He's stayed in business through multiple bankruptcies, refusing to pay vendors and ripping off customers. However, the staff, training and activities are all pretty good. more

Highly Recommend 11/29/2010

Wings Aloft is best flying organization I’ve seen. I’ve had the opportunity to experience several flight schools in Florida and California due to job transfers in the last two years. The Wings Aloft ground school and flight instructors are much more knowledgable and far better teachers than what I experienced at these other schools. Their administrative staff is always very helpful and even remembered by name when I came in for my second visit. They also have some very cool group flying activities and events that you can participate in. Highly recommend! more

Fantastic Experience 11/15/2010

My wife purchased an introductory flight lesson for my birthday in September. What a Fantastic Experience! I couldn’t believe that the instructor let me do almost all of the flying and the sights were even better than I imagined. I signed up for lessons right after the intro flight and just soloed after 18 hours of flying time. The training program at Wings Aloft is really well organized and the instruction has been first class. (wish I could have said that about all my university instructors). If you’re looking for something to do that is really different and unique, or have any interest in becoming a pilot, you need to check it out. more

Satisfied Student 10/20/2009

Wings Aloft is a good place to learn, and rent whether you are flying as a hobby or for your job. I had no flight experience when I signed up for lessons, but they found me an instructor I got along with, designed the lessons and schedule to fit my needs, and got my flying comfortably in the first two lessons. I've been learning ever since, and am on track towards a PPL (Private Pilot's License). Staff is friendly, helpful, and always available. In addition to lessons, there are educational seminars, and fun & social events. more

Very, Very Happy 10/15/2009

Completed Private Training in 58 hours. The flight training was actually very easy. My instructor - Tyler - was great. The study / academic requirements were more than expected. I put in about 100 hours of home study over 3 months. more

Beware... 9/28/2009

Of reviews written by disgruntled ex employees or would be pilots who find they cannot measure up to the training. Wings Aloft served me just fine. I got what I paid for and then some. Excellent and knowlegable staff, always helpful and even when maintenance became an issue, I was always ushered into a comparable aircraft, or given the same rate. No finer school in Seattle. more

Very Professional Training Program 9/27/2009

I’ve been flying for over 25 years and chose Wings as the school for my son to train at. Everyone on their Instructor/Pilot management staff has over 5,000 hours of flight time and the experience shows. Their Private Pilot training program organized and well thought out with a good mix of regulatory compliance and real world flying training. They get a “10” for having a professional program that will save you time and money. more

Can't recommend 5/1/2009

First off, I don't understand when a review is negative, people rate it as "not helpful". A smart shopper looks at the good and the bad. A naive shopper only listens to one side. Anyway, I can't recommend Wings Aloft. The owner is never available to talk when you need him, there aren't 30 planes as advertised - more like 10. You can't get a multi rating because the plane's been in the shop for months and nobody will lease back one to them. The hangars are falling apart, as is their reputation. I can't understand their billing system and their club fees are the highest in the area. The instructors there seem like time builders and not really interested in getting you ahead. more

cannot recommend 4/11/2009

Several aircraft owners have removed their planes from this school in the past year and other planes have been repo'd. Wouldn't trust them. more

stay away 4/11/2009

WAY over-priced. bills are hard to understand so it's easy to get ripped off. The website is either in serious need of updating or full of lies. The airplanes keep getting repo'd. more

Great Training 3/22/2009

Finished my Private Pilot Training in a total of 3 months and 52 hours. The ground school was excellent and taught by one very experienced instructor with over 4,000 hours of flight time and one TA. My instructor mapped out the entire course schedule during our first session and with the exception of a few weather delays we stayed right on schedule. He estimated the course would take 60 flight hours and I came in under budget. I highly recommend Thomas as an instructor! more

don't waste your time/money 11/3/2008

They don't have anywhere near the number of airplanes they claim they do on their website. The CFIs don't want to be there and it shows. There isn't any leadership and they are in financial trouble. Don't expect to get your money back if you put in on account. more

Wings Aloft is great 10/30/2006

If you're looking to enjoy the learning experience of your Private Pilot's License journey. Go to Wings. If you want something more cookie cutter, less personable....look elsewhere more
