This course is way overrated!!! We did not get to start our round until 40 minutes after our scheduled tee time! My buddies and I were playing together and some old people behind us started complaining because they had to wait 20 seconds on us. The old man complained again even though we were getting off the green while they were still hitting their drives. The marshall made our group split up even though they weren't even close to waiting on us. Apparently the course staff doesn't care much about everyone on the course enjoying their time, instead they gave in to a grumpy old man because he had to wait 20 seconds to hit a shot! This obviously ruined any fun we were having and I strongly urge no one to waste their money playing this course! I have played many nicer courses than this one, and no other course I have played have ever treated me or my buddies with such disrespect! Worst experience I have ever had on a golf course and will definitely not being coming back!!!

I have played the West Course at Bear Creek numerous times, and most recently in April 2012. Very fun layout and can be a good challenge with tight fairways (definitely not a "driver ever hole" type of course). But the course is always packed, and my last round took 5 1/2 hours. We also had to wait for an available golf cart since they didnt have enough to accomidate all of their scheduled tee times (we were even late to our own tee time because of this). For a facility that has 2 courses, the driving range is not near big enough to accomidate that many players. I had to wait about 15 minutes to get a spot on the range. The grass on the range is also in very poor shape. The golf carts also used to have GPS systems, and now they are gone for some reason. And trust me, on this course, you need it!

Overall, I actually enjoy playing this course very much. But there are serious issues with overbooking, and facility logistics that need to be improved for you to fully enjoy your experience. The condition of the course is almost always pretty good (Some bunkers need to be better maintained).
I just feel that as good of a layout as this course has to offer, all parts of the facility need to be at the same level.

Good golf course, decent practice area (two putting/chipping greens and driving range). My only issue is the pace of play, took about 5 hours to finish 18.

The West course at Bear creek can be a challenging course for the non-straight hitters. On some holes I decided to hit a hybrid or 3-wood instead of the driver. But it is a fun course with a lot of hills so plan you shots accordingly. The fairways and greens were in good shape and I enjoyed my time on the course. I would recommend the course to anyone looking for an appealing and challenging golf course in the DFW area.
