This is a casual Himalayan restaurant near Sonoma State University. They have a curries and rice dishes. I love their pumpkin curry and their momos. Very reasonably priced with entrees around $10-15. The service is very nice. Not a large restaurant and it gets busy...at lunchtime. They have daily specials as well.More

Outstanding Himalayan food! We also had excellent service: our server was helpful, attentive, and honestly interested in how we liked the food, and service was relatively quick. The name on our receipt is paramesh and she was excellent! We had chicken tikka masala, red peppers...with tofu, and garlic basil naan. Highly recommended!More

I was fortunate enough to have dinner here with four friends before a performance at the University. We ordered several dishes to share and our mouths were watering from all the tantalizing aromas! When our food arrived, it was very fresh, visually appealing and delicious....I am considering traveling there again soon because the food was so satisfying. Highly recommended!More

My teenaged daughter said her friend recommended it so I thought I’d be generous and let her choose where we went, thinking it’d be bland and dull. No way. Huge variety of sophisticated yet comforting, flavorful dishes that taste like a quick trip to Nepal....And the staff is so inviting and friendly it could almost be their own home to which you’ve been invited to dinner. We ordered many menu items to try them and loved the naan (basil—yum!), momos and chicken curry, mine w pumpkin. And there was so much more we’ll go back to try. Generous portions as well; we’ll be enjoying it for a few days more. Strongly recommended!More

Utterly superb curry. I asked for mine spicy and boy it was. A down to earth place serving exquisite curry at good prices. We were passing through but if we lived there we’d be regulars. Highly recommended.

Stopped off here on our way to a concert at Sonoma State - was our second time here. Tasty food and pretty quick service. But some minor indigestion afterwards.

Great Naan! A must order if you visit here. The food was tasty and not rushed. You were allowed to sit, relax, and enjoy your dinner. Something missing from most small restaurants in this area. The service was good and the restaurant clean. The only...problem is price. It's a bit high. You can basically get the same dishes (minus the naan) at Simmer for less. Our bill is always about $10 to $15 higher here.More

I have been going to Shangri-La since I started at SSU in 2012 and I have enjoyed every single dish I have ordered. My favorite is the pumpkin tikka masala and garlic/basil naan :) Unfortunately I moved away for grad school recently but still crave...the food! I visited the area last week and went to Shangri-La for three meals over five days. Seriously wonderful food and people! Menna is the kindest human.More

Since the day this restaurant opened my family and I have come here whenever we had the chance, we lived a few blocks away and it was a nice walk. The staff is always friendly and always ask how we were doing. Alas, we moved...to the other side of town and we go to Shangrila when we are meeting old friends. Still the food is outstanding!!! The chicken tikka masala is always delicious, can never go wrong with that plate!!! My wife is the kind of person who likes the curry mild, she likes the flavor, but I love the curry nice and spicy!!!! Great place, kids at Sonoma state go there since it is real close So during the school year it gets busy. If there is a lot of people, then you know that the restaurant is good!! Words to live by!More

Great restaurant...very popular. Our daughter goes to college at Sonoma State, so we get more than an occasional chance top dine here. She says it is very popular with all the students. Simple place in a little strip mall...very close to the campus...very near a...Starbucks, it you are hitting the road after dinner like we usually are. Food is good, reasonably priced and the wait staff is excellent.More

I went for lunch after dropping my daughter at Sonoma State University. I am hesitant to order indian dishes as most restaurants i have been to, don't prepare curry dishes well. But this restaurant out did my expectation! The chicken tika masala was best i...ever tried. It came with naan and a bowl of rice. I also tried their desert - kheer = marvellous. I will go in again next time. Recommend this restaurant to all curry lovers.More

We live nearby half of the time and eat here once every week or two. We always get take out, although I've been inside the restaurant, it's a bit small, so I cannot review the table service, etc. since really, just takeout for us. The...food is EXCELLENT as well as consistent. Perhaps an acquired taste, but the aloo tiki chaat is outrageous; the regular aloo tiki, for those with slightly adventurous palates, is also good. Saag paneer hits the spot, raiti is made to perfection, and some of the curries are a bit watery, like vegetable curry, so I recommend any curry in butter sauce or other creamy sauces, such as pumpkin chicken or butter chicken and so on. I don't like momo, sorry, but my husband does and says they are quite good. They also have easy take out with lunch specials for under $10. Killer selection of naan, savory AND sweet. The sweet nan must have had coconut and cherries in it and was delicious. It's a wonderful restaurant and I highly recommend it. Everything I've ever ordered there was good other than the slightly watery veggie curry lunch special. It is really a Nepalese restaurant selling Indian food, so feel good as their proceeds go to help rebuild Nepal from the devastating earthquake, at least last I checked.More
