THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Akbar Restaurant Review:
Akbar’s various locations throughout Los Angeles all provide contemporary settings to enjoy Indian cuisine that steps beyond the bounds of the usual chicken, kebabs and puffy breads. To start, there is crispy shrimp pakora, potato patties stuffed with seasoned green peas, and sautéed scallops in exotic Indian spices. Chefs make the chutneys --- mango and plum --- fresh daily. From the tandoori oven comes proteins like salmon, lamb chops, and Chilean sea bass. There are also creative and flavorful curries prepared with whole spices, and many vegetable options. Desserts like mango cheesecake or milk balls in honey syrup end the meal on a strong note. The chain is also known for its lengthy and well-chosen wine list, which pairs nicely with the often spicy cuisine.
