Why they’re No. 1: Live bands and DJs make music that makes dancers want to move. Release your inhibitions at Sutra Lounge and dance the night away. A recent major renovation has expanded the dance floor and the stage. One highlight is “Show: The Supper Club,” a live show that changes every three weeks and has a dinner menu that matches the theme of the show.

Claim to fame: Nighttime is when Sutra comes alive as one of the area’s hottest dance clubs. It’s one of Orange County’s hot places to be seen. VIP treatment such as bottle service make guests feel like they have a personal bar at their table, according to Sutra’s Web site.

Inside scoop: “We are primarily hip-hop, Top 40, mash-up and electro-house on Thursdays and Saturdays. (We are) pulling from some of the best DJs around. We also pull in a lot of national acts. We have a large dance floor, but we let people dance wherever they can find space. We have a very strong female following. Claim to fame: There’s Tannin’s Restaurant and Wine Bar with its myriad awards for wine excellence and there’s Ibiza Ultra Lounge, which has the atmosphere of a European nightclub. The restaurant/wine bar features periodic wine tastings. Ibiza has a retro-modern design and a mix of music and dancing.

Inside scoop: “Our VIP guests can have bottle service in an area that’s roped off with comfortable seating. We hold special celebrations, and have held graduation parties with teens with no alcohol. Fan favorite: Music attracts dancers with hits from the ’70s and ’80s. People come in all age groups, but most are in their 30s and 40s.

Fun fact: Tannins holds an annual Halloween party with prizes for the best costumes. Prizes are baskets of wine and snacks worth $200, $300 or $500.
