Stepping into the only U.S. outpost of the European-based Home & Abroad feels like entering the sprawling boudoir of a globe-trotting friend. An immense Burmese teak armoir flanks a wrought-iron bed frame, set with a fiery red hand-stitched cotton bedspread. Across the spacious Boerum Hill showroom, vibrantly colored beaded necklaces and bracelets are spread over a rosewood table like a decadent meal. Many of the items are imported from small villages in India and Indonesia, but the store also has its own line of hardwood furnishings like coffee tables, chairs, and TV stands made of acacia and sheesham. And from the ceramic-and-brass necklaces to the Moroccan leather lamps to the dining tables, it’s all wallet-friendly. — Bree Sposato
