The Make Your Own Wineglass Class was so much fun! Austin and Alex were great guides for our first time working with glass. They make it very easy to create a beautiful stem for your wine glass and then they attach it to a base and bowl that you select.
We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 5, 2023
We came here to do an ornament in their glass blowing class. The gal who taught us was very friendly, helpful and encouraging. I've done a glass blowing class previously, but still found the experience to be educational and a lot of fun. Our ornaments turned out well, and we were happy across the board with the experience. Cheers.

This St Petersburg treasure is hidden in the industrial arts neighborhood.
They offer a small gallery to browse. But why not melt your own glass. They will teach you how to melt glass. Bend, twist and shape it to make your own masterpiece.
... And that's just the exploration class.
I know my review sounds like a commercial for Zen Studios, but it's only because I loved my experience here.
My treasures are amateurish at best... But, that's to be expected from my first time with the torch.

We found the studio to be very hot. Understanding the Florida heat, we waited until October to go. It was brutally hot inside. The required safety glasses were beat up and held together with wire. They were so scratched it was difficult to see through. So disappointed to find out we couldn't take our glass work home. It has to cure for a day or two. We returned to pick up our glass artwork only to discover one piece was missing. We were promised it would be remade and shipped to us. (they charge $16.00 to ship if you don't pick up). We never received our promised glass piece. While we loved the idea of making glass artwork, I would not recommend this studio.

I've been interested in glass for years and luckily stumbled on Zen Glass on Groupon. I took the 1 hour wine glass class and I can't wait to go back! Austin was my instructor, and he was great! He helped me feel very comfortable and relaxed in an environment of which I was completely unfamiliar.
Super chill vibes and a wonderful way to tap into your brain's unique creativity, all while playing with a 3,000 degree torch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Margarita S.South St. Petersburg - Edit, St. Petersburg, FL13154Sep 15, 2022
Great interactive artistic fun. We made an appointment even though we didn't know what to expect. We ended up created the stems for our wine glasses and had a great time doing so. We were given safety instructions on what to do and not and our instructor worked with us through the entire process. It was a bit intimidating at first as we were working with so much heat but it all worked out.

The good things:you can schedule a one hour class almost any day of the week with several choices of times. There is a straightforward process to check in.
Now the iffy part: you will be assigned one of the studio artists (I assume) to guide you. Your experience will depend on who you get. I don't want to call anyone out by name but holy hell. One guy is so clear he can't be bothered. Rude, looking at his phone, no conversational skills. We get it. You're cool and we're not. On the flip side, there was another awesome guy who was a fantastic ambassador for glass arts and Zen Glass.
If they want people to return, give a pep talk to the guy who clearly doesn't want to instruct lay people. That's fine. Then don't do it. Seriously dude.
Another negative review is obviously referencing this same guy. So he may be a talented artist but a teacher, not so much.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Debbie W.St. Petersburg, FL073Jan 16, 2021
I wish I could say that I actually had an opportunity to utilize this facility but it never got that far. I went there in person to inquire about both having some specialty beads made, as well as taking a torch glass-working class. I was treated pretty dismissively but just chalked it up to an artist being temperamental.
I sent several emails with examples of some beads for inspiration and when I hadn't heard back after a couple weeks I followed up with a phone call. I called and left a message to find out if they had even received my emails. No response. So I called again and got the "other" business partner and he assured me that someone would get back to me by end of day.
After a few days had gone by and again no response, I called again. This time I was treated like I was hounding them when all I wanted to know if they had received my emails and were even interested in making beads for me? I decided this was not a business I wanted to work with in any capacity.
My mom had given me $200 to take a class at Zen. Instead, I will be taking a class from the Morean Art Studio where I was treated respectfully and efficiently. I am wondering how they stay in business? Do the group activity parties really keep them going?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
