In the lower-level dining room at the Hermitage Hotel, politicians and power lunches are the norm. A showcase for sustainably grown produce and Southern simplicity, Capitol Grille serves top-of-the-line beef from their own Double H Farms, and vegetables such as heirloom tomatoes, squash, and potatoes from the hotel’s own Glen Leven Farm. While the Capitol Grille isn’t my first choice for new, exciting cuisine, it remains a classic because of its consistently fresh food and polished service. Start with their signature sweet onion bisque with bacon and enjoy whimsical touches like a crouton-sized Brie grilled cheese that’s equal parts delicious and adorable. Be sure to check out the beautiful Oak Bar while you’re there if you’re not on the clock (or, heck, even if you are—you’re underground after all).
