Fringe

3906 W. 50th St., Edina, 952-746-4922

If you still think that high fashion has to cost a fortune, you haven’t been to Fringe. For most shoppers, this accessories spot will be a revelation. First, because nothing at Fringe is priced over $150—not the quatrefoil necklaces, the cuff bracelets, or even the rhinestone-encrusted watches—and loads of it is under $20. And second, because this gem is located in the most unlikely of places: Edina’s 50th and France shopping district, where bargains are usually hard to come by. As such, shopping at Fringe can be an exhilarating, heart-pounding experience. It feels a bit like stealing to nab a perfectly slouchy, Marc Jacobs-like handbag for $60 or a statement-making pair of chandelier earrings for $15. Although owner Andrea Rovner has a loyal following at the original Fringe in Hopkins, it’s the shiny new location that steals the show. This kind of guilt-free shopping doesn’t happen every day, and it certainly doesn’t happen in such a posh setting.
