The Seen: CNY Jazz Central's 'January Jam' benefit show

How cool can it be when they’re jamming?

Arts organization CNY Jazz Central went to the well of musical diversity for a benefit show at the Palace Theatre on James Street.

The fundraiser, January Jam, featured Syracuse-area bands that played roots music, blues music, soul music and plenty of stuff in between as the music unfolded, upstairs and downstairs in the refurbished old movie palace.

"All had lots of fans of their own, and every band had people dancing," says event organizer and promoter Tom Honan, who put the attendance at more than 350.

The national headliners, Commander Cody and his band, and Professor Louie and the Crowmatix, had the place "absolutely on fire," says Honan.

"Real good, sustained energy right from the beginning all the way up to end, when the Commander sat in with Jeff Stockham and company in the post-show lounge," says Honan.
