Matisse and the Sea was today's exhibit. The museum is excellent with many offering's much more extensive than I would have thought. Also the central panel of Water Lillies is here. I spent some time taking that one in.
It is as enjoyable as any museum that I have been in and much less crowded than similar museums in larger cities.
There is of course the standard cafe and restaurant attached.
Definitely worth a look if you are in town.

I have stayed here all my life and never been here. This museum is awesome. Private FREE parking. Admission FREE!! Building clean and clear of clutter. Staff very friendly and welcoming .
I came to see the African American art and exhibits and and I was not disappointed. Very informative. Spaced just right. Spacious and well designed. All Art work and statues were very colorful and cool masterpieces. 3 levels of greatness.
Dine in restaurants overpriced and food selection not impressive. Overall I really enjoyed it here!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 1 - Dec 30, 2023Updated review

I've probably reviewed St. Louis art Museum 10 times. Consistent themes include we have a very underrated art museum. Some of the best exhibits in the world come to our art museum. The pictures I'm uploading on this review is of Art in Bloom. It comes in March every year for about 2 to 3 days. Florist create flower arrangements depicting an artwork. It's amazing. It gets better and better every year.

I always love the art museum and this visit I got engaged, so really what's not to love. A world class institution for FREE in my city. It's the first place I take friends when they visit. Enjoy some of our favorite works and their descriptions.

Very impressive overall.
Staff we encountered very pleasant and helpful.
Just an amazing collection 'and' a Matisse exhibition which was perfect.
Location and building itself could not have been better suited.
Certainly recommend. The visit for us was the highlight of our visit to the city.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 115112432Mar 29, 2024
This is not my first time at the museum but I couldn't even tell you how many times I've been over the 31 years of living in St. Louis. I love that it's free and it's open reign on where you want to start and end. During this most recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying out their cafe. I had an Americano coffee with half and half and my friend and I shared a massive cinnamon roll at the start of our adventure in SLAM. After we had our breakfast, we explored the exhibits and was surpringsly met with the beautiful voices of the Milliken University Choir as we ascended to the main level. The acoustics were beyond amazing! After we listened to the impromptu show by the choir, we walked around a bit more before grabbing lunch. I ordered a Turkey Bahn Mi and a fruit cup. I ended up saving the fruit for later. The Turkey Bahn Mi was good considering it was from a cafe. I know the next time I visit SLAM, I will dine at the cafe again!

The Saint Louis Art Museum is an amazing place to visit in Forest Park. The collection of art the museum has is astounding. They have art from Monet, Rockwell, Lewis and so many more artists. They have art from all different decades and are constantly adding new art. They even have mummies. The museum is huge and you can spend a lot of time here. They offer guided tours or you can go at your own pace. The unbelievable part is that the museum is 100% free!

One of the best art museums I've ever been to and THE BEST free art museum I've ever visited in the US thus far.
We stayed in Forest Park, so this was very convenient for us to get to. I also recommend the $15 parking garage, as street parking will be difficult to find, especially late morning early afternoon.
While the museum is free, the special exhibits have nominal fees. We bought tickets for the immersive impressionism experience at $12/each.
We spent several hours here and could have stayed longer. Cafe on the premises, so you really don't have to leave. We missed the sculpture garden because of he heat, but would love to see it on a return visit.
An absolute must-see when you're in St. Louis.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
