Shanti offers a unique blend of cuisines that makes it different than any other restaurant. We change our buffet on a daily basis to offer different beef, goat, lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes and serve them freshly prepared every 15 minutes. Many people associate one word with the cuisines we serve. Spicy. But that is only one part of our menu. The special combinations of fresh coconut, garlic, ginger, mint and other we spices we add to our cooking ensures a wide variety of styles. From mild to spicy to sweet, we can serve dishes that match your individual taste. The "Chicken Shaag" is definitely one of the most popular dishes served with our fresh Basmati Rice.

My family absolutely loves Shanti. It's delicious, has depth of flavour. I always get the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and lamb curry. They all come with rice. The service is efficient. We get delivery from here pretty often and it's great. The only con is it's a little pricey for the quantity but I still love it!

We ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan and they served papad and condiments at the beginning. The naan was crispy and good. Butter chicken came with long grained basmati rice which was good too. The butter chicken, however, was floating in oil. It tasted good in the moment but was not a healthy choice at all and left me feeling uncomfortable all throughout the day. Portion size is large. Service is good. We went there late in the afternoon at around 3:30 and there were 4 other tables that were occupied signifying it may be busier during the peak hours. The takeout scene was strong too. There as 1 server managing all 4 tables but she was attentive and we didn't feel we had to wait at all. Pricing is fair and reasonable. Ambiance is that of a full service Indian restaurant. They have a full bar.

Shanti had been highly recommended to me by co-workers and friends. Food was so good! I think pricier than most Indian places but worth it. I was surprised at how empty it was on a Sunday 5:30PM - my friend and I were the only ones dining in for the whole 1.5 hours we were there. There were some take out orders, however, so perhaps it's more of a takeout place.
When you arrive, you are greeted with some chips and dip. Between the two of us, we got the Shanti Special, korma, saag paneer, and garlic naan, which we intended to bring home half for our SO's at home. It was definitely a good amount of food, came out super hot, and the presentation was appealing. The server at the end was very concerned and disappointed that we had only eaten a little of the food, and she was quite worried that we did not enjoy it. We explained to her we were intentionally saving some. You can tell she cared a lot about the food there! She nicely brought us containers and bags for our left overs and let us split the check despite us putting everything onto one bill.
Street parking was easy enough to find.
Will be back to try other dishes on the menu! Definitely a standout Indian place in the Boston area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Yesenia V.Boston, MA1183511Mar 28, 2024
Got delivery from this place one night. Flavor of everything was really good. I usually start with mild spice when trying a new place and there was pretty much no spice for mild so I'd recommend going up on their spice level if that's what you like. Otherwise pretty good

It used to be our favorite Indian food in Boston, for the past 20 years, but it went downhill. Maybe it was an off night? The baigan bharta had no smokey flavor at all. All the dishes were overly salty and extremely oily with not much flavor. Disappointing. Also the noise level was off the charts due to a party of 4 adults and 1 toddler (who was not crying). It's a small restaurant and 1 loud party can make it impossible to hear your dinner companion. Oh well.

Honestly, Shanti is hands down the best Indian restaurant around Dorchester/Boston area that I ever tried. Indian cuisine is on my list of top 5 favorite type of food to indulge.
Normally I would get chicken tikka masala (extra spicy ) or butter chicken. But last night, I tried their tandoori chicken for the first time and it was amazing! I've had tandoori chicken before from other places but Shanti was so much more well seasoned. Of course , I had to get it spicy. Both the flavor and spice was amazing . You can either get it as a whole chicken or half chicken. I believe it was $17-$18 for half a chicken and it's probably $35-$36 for the whole chicken. Half chicken feeds 2-3 people. It usually comes with either rice or plain naan.
TIP - MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR EXTRA LEMON. IT PAIRS SO WELL WITH THE CHICKEN.
As always, always ask for their condiments. All their chutney sauces is amazing. It's a must have.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Aug 5, 2021Previous reviewTried their biryani for the first time and it was pretty good! Served with Greek yogurt . I had it with lamb and the lamb is always good and fresh! Pair it with some curry and garlic naan. Amazing!
I always get the butter chicken. Wasn't the same tonight without it!Feb 1, 2021Previous reviewI'm so happy I live 5 minutes away from here. I tend to crave for good Indian food. When I do, I definitely go to Shanti and no where else. Not to jinx it but I haven't had a bad experience with them. I always either get butter chicken (extra spicy) or curry goat (extra spicy). I know I know, I'm not normal. Even the chefs is surprised when I ask for extra spicy. Try at your own risk! And of course, you always have to get a naan. I prefer GARLIC NAANS. And theirs is amazing!

Did a big to go order to give them a fair shake while finding what the local go-tos are going to be. We got dal makhani, saag paneer, chicken biryani, and tandoori chicken (chicken tikka). Along with roti and naan.
They didn't ask how spicy to make anything, and honestly everything was eerily mild. To the point of being under seasoned. Nothing was really punchy and if it did carry a flavor it was a baseline funky spice that was the same across every item. It was all edible, with the exception of the dal which was too salty, and really unpleasant. That was a bummer because it's a favorite of mine. Adding cream to it the next day helped to Robert the salt down.
So, while I'm definitely going to be eating the leftovers, we'll keep looking elsewhere for a go to for Indian. We already have Singh's Roti for "West Indian" (Trinidadian, in their case) around the corner from them in the meantime I guess.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - SR F.Boston, MA047Feb 7, 2024
I have eaten and enjoyed Indian Cuisine for over 45 years. I have never had worse.
Here, the food seemed to be reheated leftovers.
Both over cooked and highly inedible.
My request to have served mild WENT UNHEEDED. TOO HOT TO EVEN LOOK AT.
The staff who returned my email inquiring how to reach the office, spoke well, on our phone call and indicated a return call was to be expected from management. NO.
In fact I felt the food was so poor to possibly merit a call to the health department.
I expect my note here may receive a management response. I do not expect it to carry merit or value.
Our order was delivered, Rethinking, maybe they delivered leftovers from a catered meal??
If you do not know Indian Cuisine, I recommend you dine elsewhere.
I URGE YOU NOT LISTEN TO POSITIVE REVIEWS I SUSPECT THEY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE OR ARE BUDDIES WITH OWNERSHIP.
TRY IT AND LEARN!!!

Service was wonderful. Food was a little dry and didn't seem terribly fresh, with the exception of the naan, which was great.
Solid food, excellent service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
