Nectar Tasting Room set to open its doors

The Nectar Tasting Room makes its debut Jan. 7.

Owner and wine blogger Josh Wade has transformed his virtual wine discussions into a bricks-and-mortar tasting room at 120 S. Stevens St.

Nectar Tasting Room will feature offerings from five Washington wineries: Anelare Winery, Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards, Northwest Cellars, Skylite Cellars and Terra Blanca.

Customers can taste samples in 2- or 5-ounce portions and buy bottles of wine. Menus will be presented on Apple iPads, which can remember the wines customers taste during each visit and record whether they liked what they tried.

“Our goal is to provide visitors with a unique tasting experience where they can learn about wine and about each of the five wineries,” Wade said in a news release.

Nectar Tasting Room is in the first floor of a historic building at Stevens Street and Main Avenue built in 1889. It will be open noon to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and noon to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

There will be an after hours party each Saturday from 9 to 10 p.m. called “The Final Sip,” where guests can sip their way through any of the open wines for $10, usually five to eight different offerings.

“We don’t want to dump it down the drain. It’s a great way to share the wine,” Wade said.
