Riding Instruction

To Ride or Not to Ride? ...There is No Question!

"There are many skills gained by a rider during the course of learning horsemanship. While learning to control a twelve hundred pound animal and bring him to the level of a competitive partner, many life skills are also obtained. Above all esle horseback riding is wonderful exercise and a forum for a student to learn empathy, set and achieve goals, develop a good work ethic, poise, and above all else learn confidence".

Instruction

At Saddle Valley Farm we have a team of instructors/trainers that can meet the needs of almost every rider. You can select the person who you determine can best help you achieve your goals. Your instructor will create an individual program based on your objectives.

When you enroll in a lesson program, Saddle Valley horses are available if you do not own your own horse. When you progress to the point of wanting to ride more often and on your own, horses are available for full or half lease. This is often a good first step before making the commitment involved in owning a horse. Then, when you decide that it is time to own your own horse, we can assist in the process.

Saddle Valley Girls Club

The Saddle Valley Girls Club was created as a way to provide educational and social experiences to enhance the barn experience for Saddle Valley lesson students. It provides the foundation and understanding needed to be a good horse person. Available to all lesson students, it incorporates riding, horsemanship, horse-care, along with social activities such as field trips, parties and seminars. In addition to the basics, students learn responsibility, teamwork, compassion and how to compete respectfully. Since most of our students are girls, it was called the Saddle Valley Girls Club. However, members include adults and children and boys are welcome.

The club meets every- other Friday night. For the riders who are ready for a large group lesson, it begins with the Friday Night Round-Up followed by a learning experience shared by all and (of course) snacks. This offers a great way to learn and get to know others in the barn. Rather than just come for a one-hour lesson each week, many club members meet up at the barn on week-ends, help out around the barn and when they can ride independently get some extra riding time.
