Gunther Toody's has always had a special spot in my heart, I'd like to think of it as the greasy cousin of Village Inn. I find myself visiting them once in a long while. This time, I'm here for the breakfast and my favorite Jalepaneo cornbread muffins, but was told they were replaced by some blueberry muffins, :-(

I like that they feature the daily breakfast on a separate card, making it easy to decide. Boy, was I glad that we went ahead with the Saturday special: Fried chicken with gravy, hash browns, eggs, and toasts or pancakes. You better believe it when they say it's huge because it is. Our waiter took the liberty to split this dish on two plates for us when she heard we were sharing everything, that made me very happy! On each of our plate was a piece of "I can't believe it's actually this yummy" fried chicken topped with white gravy, a sunny side up egg, buttered toasts and the potatoes. It also came with coffee or iced tea but we had a Groupon so couldn't enjoy this extra perk.

Had I known this one breakfast special was going to be that much food, I wouldn't have wasted my brain cells deciding on a second item to order. Or, I shoud've stuck to either fruits or salad and ignore the callings of the Belgian Waffle breakfast. A little nudge from the BF and we got the waffles. What can I say? I will never make the same mistake again. Not only was it not "Belgian Waffles" (of course not, what was I thinking? It was regular waffles), the chorizo that we asked for came in sausage form, that's not as appetizing as cut up chorizo! We asked for our eggs basted this time around and they were good.

If not for the waitress, I'd average the great fried chicken with the not-so-good waffles to 3 stars, but she helped picked up one star. She was very patient with us when we were ordering and had questions, and when we asked her to take our picture! So naturally, I left a good tip.

It's okay sometimes I get really awesome food than I go to get the same thing and the taste is not as great . It's cool to sit in there though the waitresses are good for the most part not a bad place !

I think i was born in the wrong decade.
in fact, i KNOW i was.

this rockin 50's joint takes away all the problems of contemporary 2010 and plants me back into a world of saddle shoes, poodle skirts, hula hoops, and elvis.

      my favorite :)

Breakfast seems to be the staple food every time i seem to visit this joint, but every time i walk away with a smile.
      DEF try:
the breakfast burrito. smootherd in green chilies and cheese :)
      the eggs bene. delicious.

dont' you worry Gunter toody's, i'll return soon :)

Interesting stop for Sunday breakfast. Gunther Tooties is a cool 50's style diner. Big portions of great food. Waitstaff is interesting funny and very attentive.
Went in as a group of 5 around 9am ish, seated right away. I hear they have a great bloody mary, but spent the last two days doing brewery tours and visiting local bars so time to dry out a bit. I had the breakfast burrito. Eggs, sausage, jalapenos, hash browns all smothered with a green sauce. Awesome! and huge I couldn't finish. Around the table tons of diner classics, huge cinnamon bun, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and some sort of GT big breakfast. Everyone loved their meals.

After filling up, off to redrock amphitheater to walk off the huge breakfast. GT rocks! if you are close and hungry make sure to stop in. But plan an active day after.

Since we are new in town, we're still learning our way around and not quite sure of all of the amazing places to eat yet. So when my in laws came into town last weekend and wanted to go to eat we picked this place since they had been there before.

The staff is very friendly, and pretty quick on getting you what you need, I don't think my father in law had to ask for a refill on his coffee once.

The portions were pretty good size...I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was HUGE! There was def enough to share.

Everyone enjoyed their meal, I'm sure we'll return for breakfast again..and possibly for lunch or dinner, they had an ok menu!

Something happened recently and I don't know what. The servers are not as friendly, the hula hoops are gone and the breakfast food was not good at all. Food was slow coming out and then some of our party's food was cold and some was scalding hot. We sat in the back corner and I think they forgot about us--it took forever to get our check paid.

We have been here many times over the years and always had a great experience in the past but not so this last time. I will try it again, maybe they were just having a moment but this time was not good.

We've made occasional visits to Gunther Toody's for years. The food is consistently average, but in my mind it's hard for diner food to stand out in either direction - you'd really have to work at it to totally mess it up or to have it sing with greatness. The hand-scooped malts pretty much sing like Caruso. The rest of the food? Probably more reminiscent of Willie Nelson than Caruso, but even Willie's OK when you're in the right mood.

Gunther's does a good job at doing what it does. 50's and 60's diner - rock and roll from the era - lots of chrome, pink, turquoise, and neon. Old photos, signs and album covers on the walls. Generally charismatic wait staff who seem to enjoy adopting another persona for the duration of their shifts. It's a good option if you have kids in tow - kids menu, fun ambiance, and the wait staff play well to and with the kids. We had 7 in our breakfast party today - 4 adults and 3 kids, ages ranging from 3 to 90 - the kids had a great time and Gunther's couldn't have been more accommodating.

Gunther's is hard to rate, but I'm going with a 4. The food is a 3, but as I said, it's diner food - what do you expect? I'm going with an overall 4 because they are who they are and they do a good job of it. Average food, kid friendly, good value, good music (at least to a golden oldie like me), generally good service and enjoyable wait staff, and a fun, throwback ambiance - if that's who you are and you do a consistently good job of it, a 4 is my story and I'm sticking with it.

Grody to the max. I really wanted to like this place. 3 times I have been there, family outings and even a mommy daughter date night. I tried Grody Toody's, I tried.

Each visit only leaves me feeling more dirty than the last. It's been a bout a year since I went in (or ever will again) and I asked specifically not to have a waiter who had previously made art out of ketchup and mustard on a plate to "amuse" my daughter. I was disgusted she was scared.

Wanting to be fair, and give it another shot, I asked to be sat anywhere but his section. She treated me with a disdain only found in bad teen flicks. Way to go the extra mile for a customer!

I can't quite figure why everything about it leaves me wanting a shower. I stopped trying and now surround myself in a bubble of white light even when I drive by. How can one place feel so gross?

The food is sub, sub par. I thought I'd try some greens to liven up the fried fare... canned would have been a step up. The shakes are decent, food overpriced and service is so greatly lacking I just have to stop trying.

Other locations have stood the test of time better... but Arvada, what a loss.

This Gunther Toody's was especially nice and clean. We had a cheeky waitress in the true Gunther Toody's style....which I enjoyed, rather than the genuinely snarky wait-person we endured in Northglenn. (The one who wanted to serve our shakes in "To go" cups because she wanted some customers who might order more food to sit there...)
I ordered the biscuits and gravy and an egg over easy. They biscuits were HUGE....I should have only ordered one. Underneath the gravy and biscuits were hash browns. All and all a nice breakfast.

They say there's a time and a place for everything. I'm sure Gunther Toodies is good most anytime, for me though I seem to find myself there more often than not for a weekend lunch when I'm nursing a bit of a hangover. Such was the case a couple of Saturdays ago for me and my girlfriend.

My patty melt and the accompanying cheese fries once again worked their magic and I was back in action. There's just something about the combo of red meat, cheese, potatoes, and of course a little grease that takes the edge off the pain from the night before. She went for the Gunther's premium burger on whole wheat and afer adding a few pickles was soon also all set to take on the day.

They have lots of others options, including a Blue Plate special every day of the week. And the breakfast menu looks pretty good too. I enjoy the campiness of the whole 50's style dinner, as it's all in good fun. The service is usually above average, even if they do sometimes sit at your table and steal a fry.
