A good size sporting goods store in the middle of the city! I've had my tennis strings done here and the service was great.
TIP: If you are a member of a sports gym, I would ask if they give discounts. For Crunch members, they give 15% discount on all regular priced items. I still like Sport Basement in Presidio (http://www.yelp.com/biz/k4m6f3xsxlfZD0OoPKp_cQ) more, but Lombardi is closer to my home.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 9, 2009
Their yearly roof-top sample sale deserves 5 stars for its great steals. The store regularly is a bit overpriced though compared to its Sports Basement competitors (more like 3 stars).
This store boasts a great location on Polk and convenient parking. They have a super selection of shoes, swim suits, jackets, etc etc. They also sell some designer jeans like Paper, Denim, & Cloth and Joe's which I find a little strange but, hey, I'll buy nice jeans wherever they are sold!Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2010
This is my local spot for sporting goods. Between Lombardi and Sports Basement I'm set. Lombardi is smaller than Sports Basement and both routinely have coupons out for $20 off purchases over $100. Staff are always friendly and both have parking. I love Trek bikes so this is the place to go for Trek bikes in SF. Sports Basement doesn't carry Trek.
I highly recommend Lombardi for all your Sports needs.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Wayne T.San Francisco, CA26327102Feb 6, 2014
This review goes for the ski/snow dept. Joe and the rest of the team from the front to back are the real deal. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
Excellent "Variety" of gear every season to choose from and they price match! OH MY
They also demo boards and rent skis!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 26, 2009
One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever experienced. I get better customer service in the Haight, for God's sake. I have worked in retail for over a year and I don't know how the employees at this store were hired.
So I was on a mission to find a messenger bag a while ago and decided to stop by Lombardi. I've passed by this place for years and had never stepped foot inside. I almost wish it stayed that way! I found parking right in front and felt lucky, but as soon as I stepped inside...ugh. The Asian girl at the cash register saw me walk in and just looked at me, and then just watched me. I clearly looked like I was looking for something and didn't know where to find it, and she wasn't helping anybody (hah) or doing anything, just standing there. No "Do you need help finding anything?" Not even a "hi" or even a smile. She just looked like she had an attitude. I went upstairs and walked by a male employee who was tossing a ball around. Again, I looked like I had no idea where to find what I was looking for, and he didn't bother to ask if I wanted his help. Hell, he looked as clueless as I did.
Come to Lombardi if you hate good customer service and if you already know what you're looking for and only need someone to ring you up. Otherwise, avoid this place. 2 stars because I saw a lot of nice biking gear that I'd like to check out next time, and they do have a large selection of everything sports-y you can think of.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ming C.Olivehurst, CA323238214080Feb 16, 2012
A sporting goods store for those who reside in the Nob Hill Chinatown area. It is great for those who aren't able to go to Sport Authority or Sports Basement.
This place does have a parking space, but is only free with a purchase. I had to purchase some energy candy because I couldn't find anything I needed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 13, 2005
The sincerity and attentiveness of REI, wider variety of merchandise but maybe less depth in most areas. You're supporting a homegrown independent store so give till it hurts.
UPDATE: just bought some crazy hiking stuff here. To compete with the mega-chains they've given half their floorspace over to logo apparel and have a big snackage display by the checkout. Loved the way my salesguy not only knew his stuff, but when they didn't carry it or have it in my size he referred me to other stores where he said I could find it. But that's not the point. Half of enjoying your workout is being one with your gear, and it means a lot to me where I get it from. In the end, thanks to expert guidance I found just tthe Patagonia jacket, Camelbak hydration system, wool tee-shirt, $15 socks, shoe inserts to let out my inner madman.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2012
Honestly lacking...
Messy upstairs clothing area and very limited supply of everything. In the camping area for example, there were typically only 1 -2 products of each item on the shelves. It reminded me of a communist grocery store.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 12, 2014
Convenient location, but a bit understaffed. It wasn't super crowded, but trying on a pair of tennis shoes took a lot longer than I expected. Also I foolishly missed their generous Yelp checkin offer - 20% off one item in the store! They have a decent selection of all the outdoor and sports gear you can find at a Sports Basement or REI, but the size of the store means their offering is a bit more limited. Really glad it's in the 'hood and if their service was a bit upgraded it'd easily be 4 stars.
