This restaurant is a drive thru only establishment. Once placing your order, you pull in to the other side of the lot and wait for the attendant to bring your food. You can choose to eat in car and take it away somewhere else to eat.
I was quite impressed by the quality and taste of food. We ordered the catfish platter and the mix platter which consisted of catfish, shirimp and French fries. The fish and shrimp were seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection. Also their French fries were crispy with plenty of cajun seasoning and finger licking good.
There are other options also available on the menu but my main attraction is the catfish n shrimp. You can get poboy sandwiches also. The place is usually pretty busy during lunch hour and they do accept phone orders. So my suggestion, is to call in ahead to place your order and then go pick it up.
Our drive thru greeter was not friendly at all and did not even smile nor did she say hello or thanked us for our order. Perhaps that is one area that catfish station can work on.
Also, this restaurant does have a group on offer currently available where you can buy $20 worth of food for $12.00. Take advantage.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Dec 18, 2017Updated review
Its been over 2 years since my last update. Despite me saying I would never go back, I finally did. It was nice to see an owner there cooking. But... still over cooked and dry. I paid $20 for some dry shrimp. Also bought a pound of dry fish. I had to chase it down with water and even that didn't revive the dry fish. The spot is dead. Its a money hole now. I've seen juicer sand paper.
Avoid the money pit and Prosper.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0May 23, 2015Previous reviewThis will be my shortest review ever and it's an update from my original 2012 review. They have lost their passion for cooking. Save your money and spend elsewhere. The passion is gone so I am divorcing this location forever. All food is now dry and overcooked yet my money was fresh and green. The owners are no longer cooking, kids are. Goodbye.
Puke and Prosper.Aug 21, 2011Previous reviewI often pass this little spot up as I travel up and down 1960. Originally it was some type of express coffee shop but has been taken over, remodeled and changed to a unique style seafood TO GO restaurant. At first I was like, seriously? It instantly made me skeptical...yet very curious. So I'm like, interesting.... a spot I could drop by and pick up some catfish before heading home. Hmm. Well, today I boldly tried it out. I pulled up and noticed a little line had started ahead of me. I patiently waited and checked out the menu on the side of the building. My first thought was.... hmmm not the pricing I was expecting for such a small little spot. I was thinking fast frozen food and cheap. Well, not the case. From just looking at the menu you may be a little hesitant because of the pricing, as I was. I pulled up to place my order. Very nice staff member, who I'm assuming may be the owner, asked to take my order. Since the menu said cooked to order I figured this place must be serious. I asked, "how do you prepare your batter for your catfish." He said well I can't tell you my secrets but I can assure you it's not flaky and crumbly." I said, "well I'm from the south and I like a cornmeal base." He said "well I am from Mississippi and I know how to cook catfish." I'm like "okay...with that I'll give it a try."
Ladies and Gentlemen....HE WAS RIGHT!!! Let me tell you that was some very very fresh and tasty catfish. I chanced it and bought 2bls of it, got home and was pleasantly surprised. And the portions are HUGE. Well worth what I paid for it. I also ordered 1 lbs of shrimp because he told me they where jumbo ... and jumbo they where. The shrimp was good and fresh. But personally, I like my shrimp a little more seasoned than how they prepared it..but I would surely buy it again because of the freshness of the taste. ALSO, guess what.... I got a taste of the GUMBO while I was at the window ordering. HOUSTON.... THE BEST GUMBO I'VE HAD AT A RESTAURANT EVER!!!! I tend to stay away from restaurant gumbo and just make my own. But these guys put the right amount of meat, the right amount of spice with the right amount of flavor to produced a GUMBO to GO dream come true! I ordered a bowl for home.
I assure you this is no exaggeration. If these guys can stay consistent in their service, flavor, cleanliness and freshness of food...I certainly could foresee a new chain of these springing up all around Houston.
So to sum it up. Catfish and Gumbo are excellent here. Shrimp are big, nice portions and could use a tad bit more seasoning for me. The jambalaya is ... okay. Was tad dry for me. But hey. It is what it is. Those where the only things I got from there. BUT YOU MUST TRY TO CATFISH AND GUMBO!!! - Honsan L.Westminster, CO99112253Jul 25, 2016
A small building located by itself but don't let looks deceive you. This place provides great food at reasonable prices. We ordered 2 combination platters and each comes with 4 fried catfish fillets, 4 fried shrimps, 2 hushpuppies, a drink, and one side. Each cost only $12.99! You will get full and leave happy. The side we ordered was the red beans and rice. Only complaint was that it should be a bit thicker since it has a bit more liquid than what we're accustomed to. Service was excellent and quality of food definitely exceeded our expectations. Parking can be difficult since the place gets busy quick. This location does not provide dining in.
Tip: arrive early if you do not want to wait long. Combination platter is a great a way to start if it's your first time. Groupon usually have special deals for both locations.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dani B.Austin, TX482038Jun 28, 2018
If you want some flavorful down- home cookin, this little drive thru only spot will definitely appease your buds. Their food is southern inspired deliciousness. I have not had anything that wasn't absolutely yummy and the owner is delightful! I went through the drive thru recently for some of their delish sweet corn hush puppies and after chatting for a few seconds, the super cool guy who took my order confessed that he was the owner. So, I decided to also order some of their bourbon-infused banana pudding which the owner proudly (rightfully so!) stated sells out EVERY single day. I slowly savored the puddin(you know its serious if you spell it that way ) that evening and ... wow! They make some bomb ass banana pudding! It almost has a whipped texture and it scrumptious.
Btw about their hushpuppies, not one of them have ever made it home with me because I always end up eating them up on the way home . I think next time I'm going to place the bag on my back seat so I can't reach them
Oh! One more thing, their po boy sandwich was almost the length of my forearm. I'm not effen kiddin! And it was sooo good!
Friendly fast service
Delish southern eatin
Decadent puddin
I visited the Catfish Station off 1960 but I think they have 2 more locations now. I challenge you to order the hushpuppies, take a bite, and not gobble up the rest. Go ahead... I dare yaHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John R.Houston, TX441230309Nov 30, 2017
I ordered here using Door Dash. We ordered the family combo with 1 lb of catfish and 1 lb of shrimp with 2 large sides. ($32.99) The fish and shrimp was still crispy and warm when it got here. This is a good size order with about 10 pieces of catfish and about 14 fried shrimp. They wete excellent. The two sides I ordered was a bit disappointing. The mac and cheese looked and tasted like they put cheese sauce on a rigatoni style noodle. I appreciate the attempt for homemade taste, but it was pretty bland. The macaroni did not have the cheesiness you would expect if it was cooked together. The second side was the potato salad. Potato salad is personal, but my family did not like this slightly sweet version.
I would also recomment the hushpuppies @ $1.99 for 5 pieces. Now these were slightly sweet, but acceptable. We also ordered garlic bread @ 2 pieces for $1.00.
Overall, this was a filling meal for four people with some fish left over for a fish sandwich or two the next day. I am not sure if the shrimp was a full pound or worth the price unless they weighed the breading. 1 pound of fried catfish with 1 large side would have been $13.99 but the shrimp would $19.99 for about 14 pieces of I would say 20-26 count shrimp size pieces. I do look forward to trying red beans and rice next time as a side.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 18130186Jul 5, 2016
I found a Groupon for this place and decided to try it out. I had never heard of Catfish Station. There isn't really a location near me (Katy area), but my son and I love to try different foods.
The staff is extremely friendly. I don't know how they do it, all cramped in that tiny, hot building! But, they are all pretty perky.
The only thing I am not fond of about this place is that there is no place to sit. I know it's a drive thru. But, we drove out of our way in rush hour traffic and wanted to eat our food while it was hot and fresh. Tables outside would have been great.
I am not complaining about this, just warning potential customers:
Be prepared to wait for your food. It is made fresh. But, I think it is worth it.
The food is great! It is not over-battered, or over-fried. My son got the catfish basket. The fried catfish is so light and crispy! It's great! I am not usually a fan of fried catfish. But, this is so fresh and "clean" tasting. And, the portion was pretty huge. The description on the menu said 5 pieces of fish. They were not small pieces! My teenage son couldn't even eat it all! I got the shrimp poboy. Man, it is huge! I could only eat half of it, and I can eat an entire full sized Whataburger! The roll was soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Once again, the fried shrimp was very light and crispy. Their signature tartar sauce is like a zesty tartar sauce. Yummy!
Overall, we loved this place. I wish there were one closer to us.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marquita M.Hattiesburg, MS150164Aug 2, 2018
Worth the wait. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had enough food to save for later and the banana pudding was amazing. Customer service was great and the owner was super friendly!

Yes, the food is amazing depending on who is cooking, but the wait?!... absolutely ridiculous. Every time I come I order two or three tacos, and every time I come I wait at least 25-30 minutes even for a PAID call in order that was placed over the phone ahead of time. I tried to keep giving this place a chance bc I love the tacos but man I'm going to have to let it go. Don't come here unless you have a LOT of free time on your hands. 4 stars for food, 0 stars for the wait.

I tried Catfish Station for the first time. I found out about the place from a friend. As she suggested I called in my order. I almost missed the place when I went to pick up my order because the building is small. It literally is just a drive thru location, no place to sit down so keep your eyes peeled.
I was not the only one that was hungry because I was like the fourth car in line. I took that as a good sign indicating the food was good. I was happy when I got to the window that my order was ready and hot.
The place was small but they were big on flavor. I had the fish and shrimp snack pack. There were 2 shrimps and 2 fish fillets with fries and a hush puppy. My favorite thing was the hush puppy. I could have had a basket of just that. Plus they have this signature tarter sauce that has spuces and jalapeño. Soooo good. Always ask for more than one. Now to the taste of the fish and shrimp. They were great. Neither had an overly fishy taste or smell that some fish places have that don't know how to cook. Both were crispy and seasoned just right.
I just hate that the they didn't have any teacakes or read beans and rice ready when I visited. Ha, an excuse to go back. Although there are three locations, they are all on the nort, north side. I need this black owned business to branch out!
Overall, everything was good. Good food. Good service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
