Things started out good when I called at 9AM and was given an appointment with Victoria for the same day. I thought, "Wow! A place that's available same-day! This could be good."
At 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, I can't tell you how it is because my therapist isn't here. She's "caught in traffic" which is what I was told for the last hour. Google maps confirms that's not true unless she's commuting to Alexandria from Baltimore.
I'm hoping I can get my money back because I only had 1.5 hours available for an hour session.
Would highly RECOMMEND AGAINST coming here.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Emily L.Arlington, VA169148150Apr 1, 2013
Called multiple times and left multiple messages to try to schedule massage appointments, but no one ever answered the phone and I never received a response to my messages. Thank goodness they have an online scheduling system. They also responded to an email I sent pretty quickly.
The atmosphere:
Like others have noted, more bare bones. They have a tv on with infomercials playing on repeat in the lobby, which I also didn't find relaxing. It was also really warm inside - kind of stuffy actually. Lobby feels clean, though!
Definitely could hear convos happening in other rooms and outside in the lobby throughout the massage.
Staff:
Front desk staff were nice but seemed confused and not very efficient. Took both staff to help a woman find some hair product she was interested in while a line of customers waiting to check in formed.
The worst part was that there was a male masseuse who started chastising and yelling at a female masseuse in the lobby because her appointment was late - very unprofessional and frankly, quite rude.
Massage: Had Victor. Not luxury, but holy moly he is strong. If you like a LOT of pressure - shiatsu style, this is the masseuse for you! Bumped up a star just for the great massage work. I have some crazy knots and he worked on them the whole time. It was painful, but it really helped afterward. Would not recommend if you don't like a ton of pressure, though!
Bottom line: If you want a serious, deep tissue, shiatsu style massage, book with Victor. If you're looking for anything else, go elsewhere.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 2216851323Feb 21, 2011
This review is for a 60-minute STONE MASSAGE with MADELINE.
Madeline is very friendly and professional. I cannot imagine that anyone could perform a stone massage any better.
The stones are used for their heat and are occasionally used as part of the massage itself. The temp was perfect, and so was the pressure Madeline used. Her technique was up there with the best I've experienced , and she even had time to massage my face, which is often overlooked. It was truly one of the best massages I've had - and I've had a lot of them.
If you go to Whole Health, you must see Madeline. The only drawback is that she's available only during the week. I can tell you this much, I would gladly use one of my days off to pay her a visit.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

I really appreciate your review and the most important part, you had the best massage that you have ever experienced! As you know, Whole Health is a very busy wellness center and growing. We have treated literally thousands of people. We have many satisfied patients like you. Yet we are always open to ideas and recommendations to make Whole Health a better community based wellness center.
I appreciate your continous support and reviews!!

I bought the Groupon for 3 iLipo Laser Treatments. I just wanted to give it a try and the Groupon was basically 3 treatments for the price of one. I visited every Saturday morning for 3 weeks. Sadly, I didn't notice any significant weight loss, only 1inch loss from my waist but honestly that could have just been water weight. The office is not terribly impressive but it looked clean, definitely not a "spa" experience, but clinical. There is one thing the practitioner asked me on my intake sheet that bothered me. She went over my medications with me to see if any of them could be attributed to my recent weight gain. She asked, "What medications are you on?" to which I replied "Just birth control." She asked "Are you married, or single?" to which I replied, "Oh still (technically) single, my bf and I have been together 2 years." She said "Oh OK, well then you have to stay on birth control." The comment bothered me. Going on or off birth control is bigger than just being in a relationship or not.
So add poor bedside manners, I won't be back.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ashley H.Herndon, VA0149May 8, 2015
Bottom Line Up Front: This place looked like it was suffering and needed Groupon to help bring in business.
I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out paper work in which the receptionist continued to ask about my life story. She was more invasive than friendly, in my opinion. I wasn't called back to the massage room until 15 minutes past my appointment time. I waited another 10 minutes on the table before the massage therapist came back in, so my massage started 25 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early.
Throughout the massage, the therapist used her cellphone for background music, but she didn't use the Do Not Disturb setting, so I got to hear her sister-in-law call 4 times during my massage. My therapist talked through the entire treatment, from her brother's sob story about getting fired and needing a hip replacement, to weeding out men on dates by asking if they've ever had a happy ending massage, from how she prefered her men's chest hair, to letting me know I'm young and I'll find my prince. By the way, those illegal parlors are usually posted on Craigslist and say they take payment of flowers. WTF DON'T CARE. I don't know about everyone else, but I get a massage for the solace and relaxing benefits, not for the stress and energy needed to listen to someone's problems and to hear they wont keep sheets with someone's bodily fluids on them.
When I got dressed, much of the salt scrub hadn't been washed off. I tipped her before I walked back to the front, where the awkward receptionist abruptly asked, "Did you tip?" Yes... May I have some water? "Sure. Do you go to church?" Yes... Why? "Because this lady sitting here goes too, and I thought you two could connect."
So. Bizarre.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Sunny S.Alexandria, VA010Feb 3, 2018
Permanent makeup Eyebrows areBAD!! Fading off after 2 months. Once they get your money, Groupon charge!! you'll never heard back from them again, they canceled follow-up appointments and never reschedule!! You can't call them nor contact them without having to pay again!!

This place is absolutely despicable! The service was poor, the staff are immature and unprofessional and the entire business is a joke. I bought a living social deal months ago and tried making an appointment. After TWO weeks of calling and leaving voicemails and emails, they finally learn how to pick up the phone. I set the appointment for 7pm and got there at 645pm. I sat there for 20 minutes while the staff whispered and bickered at each other while ignoring me. When I asked what was causing the hold up, they proceeded to ignore me and make me wait some more. There was no apology for their tardiness nor any form of professionalism. I will never come back to this facility again and will tell all my friends to avoid this place.
Service was poor, the massage was mediocre, and above all else the environment was disgusting and not at all relaxing. I left more stressed than when I walked in.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda R.Nokomis, FL10151Dec 4, 2011
I arrived early, filled out my paperwork only to have to wait and wait. The massage therapist didn't come to get me until a few minutes after my appointment was to start.
She brought me to the treatment room and asked me how I was. I told her that my back, especially my low back needed extra attention as did the back of my legs. When she told me to get undress and lie face up on the table, I really didn't have much hope that it would be a good massage. If a client tells you that something is bothering them, a good massage therapist will begin there first. This ensures at least the client's problem area is taken care of before the end of the massage that way the client leaves happy.
She was ready to leave the room when I asked what kind of oils could I choose from. My appointment was an aromatherapy massage. With people being so sensitive to oils, she was just going to pick for me? It was very disappointing that I only had 4 scents to choose from especially since the regular price for this type of massage is $100.
When she returned to the room, she began her massage. About 5 minutes into the massage, I had to ask her if she could turn down the music. It was so loud that I was practically levitating off of the table. They have a stereo system that is pumped into all of the rooms. After she turned the music down, I soon realized why they kept it so loud. The walls did not go all the way to the ceiling so you could hear everything in the other rooms as well in the reception area.
I would say that it was a waste of time and money. They are charging spa prices and not delivering the service or atmosphere.
The straw that broke the camels back was that she ended my massage at 5 minutes til the hour. So I paid for an hour massage only to receive 50 minutes.
I will never go there again and I recommend others not to as well.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - L L.Las Vegas, NV01613Nov 1, 2017
Went to Whole Health to get permanent eyebrows done and ended up getting microblading by Lana. Best decision ever! Lana did a fabulous job and I'm glad I opted for microblading. The final product is much smoother and natural looking. The procedure is a tad uncomfortable but each eyebrow took approx 30-35 minutes but it's worth it! Get yourself a groupon coupon and get to Lana. If this procedure truly lasts 2-4 years I'll be thrilled. Lovely work, Lana. Thank you.

I purchased a deal from buy with me to get a 60 minute deep tissue massage for a discount. I'm giving it 2 stars because of the cleanliness and the fact that they allowed me to put the tip on the credit card, but the massage was not good. Instead of a deep tissue massage, the therapist was only doing a swedish massage. She never asked if the pressure was okay and when I asked her to put more pressure, she did but only slightly and maybe for about 2 minutes.
This was a waste of my money and I'm glad I got this deal on a discount. If this is how all their therapists are, their regular price is a rip-off.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
