I got a Brazilian wax because I a Groupon that was about to expire. It wasn't the most painful as others are stating but I will not go back. I'm use to hard wax which she used none of. She said if you want hard wax request it when you make an appointment. The main reason I won't return is the cleanliness. She was doing some serious double dipping. I questioned that also and her response was they use a new thing of wax for each customer. She must have thought I was boo boo the fool. The wax was very full and there is no way she was going to throw it out. I'm going to stick with European Wax Center. I give the one star for the service.

I was underwhelmed by my experience at urban oasis. I called about 10 days ahead for my friend and I to book services. The plan was to do massages and pedicures. To my surprise, we weren't able to get an appointment for our feet at all. We decided to go ahead and book the massages and just go elsewhere for the rest of our pampering. The strange thing was that, when we arrived, we walked past the pedicure area to get to the massage rooms and it looked totally open. There was just one guy there...at least 3 open spots. Weird. Maybe they don't want more business??

I did the relief massage: 40 minutes for $60 just focusing on the neck and shoulders. It sounded perfect for me since that's where I usually carry my tension. The first thee minutes were good, but then my massage therapist just kept repeating the same few minutes over massage patterns and techniques over and over again. And they weren't particularly great. She used the same two finger sliding motion again and again. She also didn't use enough lotion, so after a while I felt a bit of that uncomfortable friction. And a big distraction from my attempted state of zen: she was chewing gum. That just didn't strike me as professional.

The place is quite small (I get it, it's in an urban area...space is limited). But the locker room was literally the size of a large closet. The door was also very close to where you'd need to stand to get your stuff out of the 8 or so lockers they have...quite awkward. The robes and slippers are standard terry or waffle cloth. My gripe was that the robes were quite small. They didn't have any size choices...and I wasn't about to have the awkward "um, do you have a larger robe?" question with the gal who checked me in. I made it work but it wasn't the most comfortable experience right off the bat.

Overall I wouldn't try this place for yourself. Prices are decent, but for the quality of experience received, the value just wasn't there.

      Wax on, Wax off!

Bought a Groupon for a Brazillian Bikini Wax for $29 (reg $50 +) so made an appt for Thursday afternoon. It is located in Midtown off Louisiana and there is street parking or garage parking in the back. Garage parking is FREE!

My appt was at 4:45 pm but got there early and they took me early. I've gotten bikini waxes before but never a brazillian (and it's been a while) so I was nervous. It's always awkward to be naked from the waist down in front of a stranger but Yvonne was awesome. She made me super comfortable and explained everything to me.

If you've never had one, I'd recommend trimming before you go in. There is some pain involved but it was very minimal. And the notion is that after the first time, it gets less painful.

Overall, I was impressed with the service from entry to exit and will definitely go back and see Yvonne. I also discovered that they offer a lot of other services too so I'm thinking I'll be trying some of those too.....

So we found this place on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try.

      Pros:
      -Takes walk-ins
-Clean, cool and pleasant decor as you would expect from a spa
      -Easy parking in the garage
-Very friendly, my manicurist/pedicurist was Jade
-There was a Yelp 10% off all services deal that they accepted
      -Gay friendly
      -Service free wine
-Basic mani & pedi was about $65 before discount/tax/tip, which I thought was somewhat expensive, especially after I reviewed the work

      Cons:
-I felt like they rushed through my services
-After closer inspection, I could see the clear coat from my PREVIOUS pedicure still on my toenails so obviously they didn't clean/buff the nails enough. I had already left.
-I felt like Jade rushed through my manicure and actually spent more time on my right hand than my left. She was supposed to buff my nails to give it a good 'shine' as opposed to putting on a clear coat polish. My fingernails were not as shiny as my friend who ordered ONLY a manicure from another male manicurist who also buffed instead of clear coat. My friend was there the whole time.

I feel like I got screwed for ordered both a manicure and a pedicure, maybe next time I'll just pick one or the other so they don't rush. Quality over quantity yo!

I went to Urban Oasis a few weeks ago as part of a weekend celebration of my husband's graduation. Our parents were in town and I wanted all of us to go to the spa together and enjoy a little quiet and relaxation. Urban Oasis was able to easily accomodate the five of us on a Saturday morning for a variety of treatments.

I had recently gotten a pedicure so I opted to go just for the rose petal manicure. My mother did the same. My dad and my father-in-law both received the Rocky Pedicure for men and my husband got a much needed Swedish Massage. My father-in-law had never been to a spa before and was a bit skeptical when I said we'd scheduled him for a "manly pedicure." It took about five minutes in the chair before he was a complete convert and wondering where he could find a good spa back home in TN. My husband, who is a physician, was especially impressed with his masseuse's technique and level of knowledge in physiology. He plans to start scheduling regular sessions soon.

The spa is very new, clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and everyone in our group felt that the received a high level of care and attention during their treatments. In addition to being very easy to find, the facility also has a free parking garage just behind it. Amazing for a Midtown location. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a great day spa in the Midtown area.

When you have spent a year of your life planning for a wedding needless to say you become a bit stressed. And yes this is coming from a man. Gentlemen if you are feeling full of energy and life about a month before your wedding it may be because you are not doing much of anything. But if you are like me and you are working your tail off being a slave to your soon-to-be wife and subsequently never getting things exactly the way she wants it. You and your bridezilla, aka future wife may need a place to pamper yourselves and relieve some tension before your big day. My now wife and I decided to go with Urban Day Spa because they had the best couples retreat spa package. We got the Deep tissue massage and classic manicure pedicure for just over two hours for $360 (for two people), This was one of the better deals in town in our opinion because it gave you the most time for cost.

When we got in we were treated with a glass of wine and grade A service. We were graciously escorted to the mani/pedi area that was very spacious and comfortable. They definitely went out of their way to help you feel relaxed and they took their time completing the mani/pedi. After the mani/pedi was complete I felt absolutely amazing. My hands looked displayable for wedding pictures that would last a life time. And my feet looked...less embarrassing. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience.

Now they say that a wedding/couples massage is suppose to be a relaxing experience. It is suppose to be revitalizing and soothe the senses. Well for us we decided to go a bit against the grain and get a deep tissue massage. Both of us exercise frequently and we needed something to loosen us up a bit. Plus with added wedding stress why not fight fire with fire. And I must say that this massage burns so good! My masseuse gave me a great full body workout, using almost every bone and muscle in her body to work out some of the deepest kinks and knots that I had in my muscles. She also pushed and pulled my body in directions I had no clue that I could go. It was the most painfully exhilarating experience and despite the pain my body felt completely at peace after I was done.

So all in all a great pre-wedding experience. I would recommended it to any future bride and groom looking to relax a bit before their big day.

Given how much a mani/pedi is at this salon ($90 + tip), NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. Or maybe I got stuck with a crap technician (Ruth - avoid her like the plague)...she nipped 3 cuticles (drawing blood) and it took her numerous applications on a few of my fingers to get the color on streak/bubble free and in the end I still left with streaky nails on 2 fingers...I appreciate her trying to fix it (she should anyways, given the inflated price of the manicure) but seriously took two too many tries without even being successful. Her arm massages were also quite half-assed.

As for my pedicure, nothing to write home about other than my feet still feel rough.

I will add the extra star for the great selection of nail polishes...perhaps I will give this place another try with another technician? But probably not...I'd rather spend my $$$ at the Houstonian.

I got the Luxe Pedicure and shellac mani. The service itself was 4 stars.

When you consider how expensive it is for what you get, I took it down to 3 stars.

The customer service took it down to 2 stars. I had a gift card that was over a year old, and they told me I couldn't use it. I've never had a gift certificate for a salon expire. Ever. And I've gone to many nail and massage salons all over town. I was told (in a perfectly nice way) that their system was new, and they didn't have record of the old gift certificate. Really? I'm sure you recognized revenue on the sale of that gift card, so it's somewhere in your system.

      I won't be going back.

Just home from Urban Oasis Day Spa. I had a facial with Rebecca who did a great and thorough job.

And then the most detailed mani/pedi ever done by Tran. She simply applied extra effort to making sure ever part of my nails were perfect. I chose a dark brown and she applied an extra coat to make sure it looked as beautiful on my hands as in the bottle.

Clean, modern environment, very nice and attentive and just four blocks from home. Plus I called on Friday afternoon and they were able to create my appointments and execute smoothly with no gaps in awkward waiting around time that I get some places.

      Yay!

      Updated review

So I still stand by my previous review of 5 stars...for the massage. However, I'm dropping my overall review to 3 stars for the terrible wax experience I had here.

I decided to switch it up and come here instead of Just Wax It since there was a CrowdSavings deal (always trying to save where I can!). What is normally a 15-20 minute procedure turned into a 45 minute one, that hurt much more, and that I needed to do in 2 parts because it took so long. While Catherine is VERY nice, I'm not reviewing her as a person, just the service--and the service was sub par.

I'll stick with Just Wax It, where they use hard wax, are done very quickly, and do a great job of making something as painful as waxing hurt significantly less.
